As of now, we really have no players that have played/excelled in a 3-4 system in the NFL.

Plus a coach who has only run a 4-3 base.

With 2 good MLBs

We're getting rid of Vilma anyway, so no. 4-3. /thread

Hell, we ran a 4-4 with Williams (Harper lived in the box) and we had a hard time getting pressure. The problem isn't the scheme it is a lack of talent.

With 2 good MLBs and a roster decision looming for Will Smith, would a transition to 3-4 be better suited for this team? Let's be honest, couldn't be worse than what we saw out of 4-3 this year.

Vilma was terrible in a 34, and Lofton has never played in it.

You are taking a shite load of people that have never played in a 34, and that weren't particularly impressive in a 43, and expecting good stuff to happen.

Everyone will get worse in your front 7 except Cam Jordan.

My opinion is we are better suited to run a 3-4.

except we miss the 2 most important pieces for a 3-4 (nose tackle, rush LB)

And a D-coordinator that has never ran the 3-4.

Also, many posters think that Martez Wilson can fill that roll. Well, he hasn't done shite, so I wouldn't wait for it to happen.

I think he needs to work on his lower body strength. He's fast, but if a blocker gets their hands on him, he's pretty much done.

That is why Vilma wanted out of NY. Jets went to a 3-4 and he is not a 3-4 middle linebacker.
