Just brought a dog back from a plantation in georgiathat was originally. Dog was even sent to North Dakota for training. Story goes dog would not hunt and the plantation was going to put it down so my mom rescued it (she rides her horse there)and asked if we would take it in. Dog is sweet as pie great temperament but I am not sure how to get her a climatized to home life. She seems to enjoy her new kennel but seems to look for me to invite her out only.

All she has known has been a work dog/ bird dog, treat her with kindness and give her some time and I bet she comes around...

some dog trainers where people "Send the dog off to train" can be heavy handed and some dogs dont respond well to that type and this dog could be man shy where they will associate all the "tranning" to men, most all dogs can become good pets. I think the dog will be ok. I dont know why south dakota? to train unless on grouse. Phez is not an ideal bird for a pointing dog to train with, they like to run and dont hold very well. Just give the hound a chance, they do gave a lot of energy.

It is the cooler temps in the summer so that the dogs can work longer.
