a thread in the Ted thread for me wondering. What movies do you have with superb audio or video would you use to showoff your screen or audio system? what about the title makes it the winner?

Some kind of porn. Usually starring Peter North.

Do you have any idea how glorious a Peter North facial looks on a 70 inch screen in perfect hi-def with surround sound all the way up?!? The look on my guests' faces says it all.

The reboot of Star Trek looks and sounds outstanding on blu ray.

BTW, if you're looking for serious reviews of blu ray titles, check out LINK / In addition to having links to movies to buy on Amazon, they do really in depth reviews of all titles.

When I got my 80" and decided to hook up my blu ray player that previously sat in the box forever, the first disc I bought was Inglorious Basterds. There's the scene in Shosanna's theater when it is decorated for the Nazis, with red drapes hung alll over. The reds were so brilliant and the clarity is so fabulous, it was better than watching it in the theater. If I had to pick a showoff disc, it would probably be one of the Lord of the Rings movies. I have them, but not in blu ray. But when it comes on cable in HD, the scenery, especially stuff like the castles built into the mountains, is stunning.
For audio, I have a Bose Cinemate surround sound bar, and any of the Transformers movies (pick any fight scene) is my go-to disc to show off sound.

I would add 2001 to that. It looks amazing on TVs capable of deep blacks.
