If you like Settlers of Catan, you should try Kingdom builder. It is based on the same premise but the scoring changes game from game so it adds a strategic element to it. It's a great game that is very easy to learn and a lot of fun.

You'll be fine starting off with Intrigue, if you like it and have played through all the cards a good bit pick up the base game or the prosperity and seaside expansions.

There are two player variants out there for Catan but with no trading it's not as fun.

I think Agricola is actually a mich better game than Catan with more strategy and less luck. And you can play two player.

If you get Catan I think the Seafarers expansion is a must.

Think I am going go with Dominion (base set). Thanks for all the advice.

Agricola

Have heard great things about this one, but it may be a little complex for where I am at now.

Stone Age is fun, I've got it, always good. It's Catan-like. No roads but you have some minor technology and exploration.
