the quick and dirty answer is VooDoo is already in use by a team in New Orleans (yes the AFL team exists... in fact they will play some of next season's schedule in the Superdome b/c of renovations being made to the Arena following the Hornets season)

Benson already owns the Pelicans name... so it would probably a bit easier to just go with that... plus Pelicans (esp the Brown Pelican) are awesome

It's rumored that Benson tried to buy Voodoo and the Arena League either wouldn't sell it or wanted more than Benson was willing to pay for it.
