"I'm very excited and can't wait to see what else Tuscaloosa has to offer because I've been there a few times," Beckwith said.

Someone earlier said he hadn't ever been to Tuscaloosa before.

I mean, I forget. Did LSU not just have a chance at the National Championship less than a year ago? That = not ever getting a chance to play for a national title

It would seem to me the outcome of that NC game might come into play on some kids choosing Bama instead of whatever schools they were thinking about. And as far as kids debating over LSU or Alabama, that awesome display of coaching shown by both coaches could definitely come into play for Louisiana players, ala Beckwith . also the fact Alabama is once again playing for the NC and LSU is playing Clemson could be a factor as well. At least Beckwith plays defense. It could be worse.

Seriously...Dumb.

You've stated nothing worthy of note supporting your argument. That's because there is no substantive truth to your ramblings.

People seem to forget that we got the #2 player in Bama last year. Oh yeah...That LB that became a freshman starter for us. Wait wait...Bama didn't want him. Sure their numbers got tight, but rest assured, they wanted him until they received too many commitments.

LSU and Bama are a wash in facilities, similar talent levels, similar opportunities for graduates, top notch coaching at both schools.

They literally offer the same opportunities to football players. It's just a choice of comfort level with the players and coaches. Saying differently you're just trolling or don't know any better.

The frick did Devall do this year that people are projecting him to be this super stud? He had 2 sacks and less than 20 tackles.

Well cracking the depth chart as a true freshman at Alabama is pretty damn impressive.

It's the same with other recruits.....we aren't going to get every single great player from the state. It's the same with every other college in the country. Ohio State doesn't get all the ones from Ohio, Bama doesn't get all the ones from Bama, Texas won't get all the best from Texas, etc. Instead of worrying about who we don't get, focus on who we do get and let's see how good we are going to be. Reality is, Bama will be near the top of the SEC while Saban is there, unless they get hit with sanctions. Reality is, LSU will be near the top of the SEC while Miles is here, barring any NCAA issues. We are going to get great recruits from other states, we are going to lose some LA talent to other states. Deal with it and move on

Okay. That was the main purpose of my whole statement. Sure, saying they may offer more is probably a little much (even thouugh I don't think so). But I was predominately stating that both schools offer near identical benefits to a quality recruit.

It got blown out of preportion because apparently LSU fans get up in arms when someone acknowledges that Bama can offer near everything that LSU can. That is also to say that LSU can offer near everything Bama can. That was the point. Thus, both schools offer extremely similar benefits.

How is that in any way dumb?

Is it?

We had plenty freshmen crack the depth chart as freshmen. Happens every year, usually based on need more than anything.

On the defensive line, yes, its impressive. And in doing so, grabbed the attention of at least one prominent NFL talent evaluator.
And again, its a position of need next season, losing four ends.

A headline on al.com read like this: Five-star linebacker Reuben Foster decommits from Auburn, considering Alabama again

If he goes back to 'Bama, what, if any, impact would this have on Beckwith?

Just wondering...

They play two different positions, Foster is middle, Beckwith is outside, so I dont think it would make any difference at all.

What impact do you think the arrival of, just for discussion's sake, both to LSU in this class have on last year's solid LB core?

I know we already have Melvin Jones committed and he's an inside (middle) guy like Foster. Say Minter leaves, do you see a guy like Feist taking over that position or do you possibly see Foster/Jones logging a lot of freshman PT because we are so young there?

Then, I'd like to see Beckwith, who I think is a more realistic shot at coming to LSU than Foster, log some good freshman PT from say a Lamin Barrow. Beckwith is too dynamic to leave on the sidelines or redshirted. WYO?

I don't know if I would be a proponent of taking away PT from Kwon and Louis. I think both progressed very well and will finish their carrers as high draft picks (compared to LSU's recent LB drafts have gone).

Reason why I think Beckwith is leaning to Bama is because he sees the writing on the wall, LSU would give him the chance out OLB, but he would eventually play end here, where he is an OLD all the way in the 3-4.

But as for stockpiling talent, I dont think its ever a problem. Get them all in camp, let them sort it out, cream rises to the top

I think LSU fans would become defensive when talking about almost any elite football program and their offerings vs what LSU offers. There aren't many that can match what LSU has. Tack on the negativity already festering towards Bama for various reason and a comment like that will certainly take on legs.

Sure, saying they may offer more is probably a little much (even thouugh I don't think so).

And that's where the disagreement comes in. I, as well as others, obviously just don't see any advantage(sans the Saban factor) and neither do most unbiased college football fans.

quote:

Becomes it's unsubstantiated and holds no water. It's purely opinion and most rational and unbiased fans familiar with the two programs would agree.

Unfortunately I have gumps on one side of the family tree, and whenever they get off their high horse, they agree that the programs are certainly just about equal from a recruiting standpoint when all things are considered.

I really don't think he will end up back at Bama, and Saban's such an ego maniac that I wonder if he even still would take him. Plus, Rarely do kids decommit from one school, then commit to another, and then decommit from that school and go back to the one they already decommitted from. Especially when its Bama/Auburn.
