I've never been a Brandon Jennings fan. I've kind of thought of him as a punk at times. Multiple times I've said I don't want anything to do with him, especially based on past comments that he's made.

But it has become extremely obvious that we desperately need a player with his skillset on this team. We need a quick, penetrating PG, that can handle the ball well, get other guys involved, get in the lane, and can score when need be. And won't get destroyed on double teams or blown by every time he plays a quick guard. And can take pressure off of Gordon when he actually plays.

Rivers MIGHT develop into that one day, but he's certainly not there yet, and won't be for probably another 2-3 years, if ever.

I know we have Gordon, but Jennings is working next to Monta right now, I think he can work with Gordon.

Yes, he's an RFA with a Qualifying Offer for next year. So we would either need to trade for him during the season or complete a S&T with Mil, as they will likely match most offers.

So it will be hard to get him, and he is, for sure, a polarizing player. I can't even believe I am advocating for him as I have been an opponent...but we need talent on this team, desperately, and he's the type of talent we need.

Would he even be willing to sign with us? I thought he wanted a bigger market.

Obviously, that is the "comments" I was referring to. There is no doubt he might want to go to a big market, but there aren't many big markets who will be looking to add him or have the space to do so. Maybe Dallas?

Speaking of Dallas, Roddy Beaubois will possibly be available (RFA). He's been a disappointment in Dallas, but we know the FO likes him.

But we really need to add starters. We might not have a shot at BJ, but that's the type of player we need.

Jennings has been the top player on my wish list since the Eric Gordon situation earlier this year.

Brandon Jennings is overrated...career high FG% is 41.8...under 40 for his career.

he's a pretty good player and all, but he will continue be a high volume shooter on a mediocre team, imo.

First, he backtracked on those comments after someone explained to him that he was still a year away from being an RFA, not a UFA.

Second, for this contract at least his heart will be with whoever shows him the money since it looks like the Bucks are waiting to match.

And I agree with FunBunch. He fills a need on this team and as crazy as it may sound, I'd rather Jennings than Iggy. Iggy may be a better player but this team just has so many offensive deficiencies and Gordon can't be trusted to stay healthy.

I'm all for getting him if we can lock him up long term. I was just wondering how realistic our chances actually are. If he's willing to be here long term, I say go after him. Will the bucks have the cap space to match if we make a max offer?

Yes, easily. Not that they really need it since he's there own player.

The problem is, what will we have to give up to get him?

I don't think that Milwaukee just lets him go, obviously. And I don't think they take some minimal amount...they would just match.

So we would have to give them a S&T worth there while in order to make it work.

And you've got to think Dallas will make a play for him as well.

The Bucks have the ability to match, the question has always been do they think he's worth paying the Max. Giving Jennings something like 4/$52 would definitely be overpaying him considering what similar guys like Curry/Holiday/Lawson just resigned for. They were all in the low to mid $40s I believe.

Considering Davis and Anderson will probably outperform their contracts in the next 3 years you can afford to overpay a guy like Jennings. But that also means Demps needs to keep finding productive, cheap role players like Jason Smith, Ayon, Vasquez, etc.

Obviously we wouldn't be willing to give up Anderson, AD or Gordon. And I dont see them taking any package of our other guys. Maybe if we throw in a protected first with a few role players? Still, I doubt that'd be enough.

The big market thing seems to have been taken out of context. Basically, he answered questions about playing in a big market.

I share many the feelings and assessments here, but I do find Jennings intriguing. I really find his decision to play in Europe rather than play college interesting. He thinks differently than most, clearly. That can cut both ways, but I find it to be another key to evaluating his fit.

Well it would come down to one of two things, or a combination of the two.

1) Us Overpaying; and/or

2) BJ making it clear he doesn't want to be there and Milwaukee already having Monta and wanting to just move on from him.

If its #2, he might be able to be had for a 2014 protected pick 1st Round Pick (Top 7-10 protection in 2014) and some combo of young players like Greivis, Aminu, Henry, Rivers etc.

Its still somewhat of a longshot, but these things do happen. He's just what we need.

I know the austin is just a little stretch, but if he starts draining 3's like nobody's business, you might as well call him the bird man.
