I really dug the movie. Of course it has a whole bunch of people in it that I really like (Gosling, Bryan Cranston, Ron Perlman, Christina Hendricks, Carey Mulligan)
The opening 10 minutes or so are just great, the whole scene with him driving a getaway car and just blending into the crowd at a Clippers game.

IIRC a woman actually tried to sue for false advertising and emotional distress after walking out of the theater

I enjoyed how the movie was shot and the soundtrack enough to overlook the plot issues. I still enjoyed it eta: I also really enjoyed Albert Brooks' performance in this movie. His interactions with Bryan Cranston were really good, as well as a few of his moments with the driver

I thought Albert Brooks was awesome. Ballas who like the soundtrack will want to track this down:

Albert Brooks is awesome in every scene he is in. Ron Pearlman and Bryan Cranston were also both great. The scene at the diner between Pearlman and Brooks was worth the price of the rental alone.

And it is a pretty movie. It looks great.

She's my hero. I hope she won a million dollars (that she didn't leave lying on a floor).

Blade Runner
is one of the greatest films ever made.

Hanna
is also beautiful. Let the Right One In (American version) reminds me of it in some odd fashion.

American Psycho
is a cult classic that is really not as good as it is made out to be, but interesting and well acted.

Drive is between Hanna and Blade Runner, imo. I fricking loved Drive. I walked out of that movie totally satisfied, which is more than I can say about the other Winding-Refn films I've seen (Bronson and Valhalla Rising). Like all Winding-Refn films, Drive had an aura about it. It pulsated tension. The simplicity of it made it all the better, imo. The classic "stranger in a strange land" superhero vibe of Gosling's character was intriguing enough to not get much, if anything, on his back story. The stranger falls in love with a forbidden woman. Tragedy strikes. The stranger sacrifices the possibility of living with his love so she may live. Classic storytelling in a unique way.

If you liked Drive, see A History of Violence.

Where is Lacour?

Isn't this his favorite movie?

Which was more controversial here, Drive or The Tree of Life?

OP pushing hot buttons!
