I just started playing Far Cry 3 today, and I can't put it down. I've already put about 6 or 7 hours into it. I don't want to rush my judgment of it, but if it continues to keep my interest like this, it should be GOTY. 
eta: If I had to sum it up, I'd say it plays like a fusion of Skyrim and GTA V, but you play on beautiful islands with awesome gunplay.
eta2: I'm playing it on PC, and it looks pretty awesome even though I'm only running it with medium settings.
