"Sources close to the situation tell us the meeting between Butch Jones and Kentucky administration did not go as expected by the parties. We are told "the deal was changed". Accordingly, sources tell that Butch is no longer a candidate for the job." Jones and UK not on same page

Jones likely found out that UK does not support success in football.

Jones is a good coach, not necessarily under rated.

He is, IMO, clearly inferior to Mark Dantonio. If not for his heart problems, he would be a great candidate for a number of bigger program jobs.

Why doesn't Kentucky go after Tedford?

Tedford has a couple of good years at Cal, but I don't think anyone views him as a solid hire. If Jones is truly out of the picture (and I'm OK with that, he wasn't my choice anyway), then Tedford might get more consideration.
The AD has been very silent, I suspect he has his guy and is just waiting till after the regular season is over to announce it, but it's just a guess on my part.

Aside from his last two seasons, he hasn't done anything of note.

UK is stupid for not trying to hire one of the in state coaches purely because they're from rivals
