So apparently there's been a lot of smoke recently via multiple sites (247, CatsIllustrated/Rivals, etc) that Cincy's Butch Jones may have agreed in principal to a deal with UK that will be announced after December 1st.

As of today there's been a wave of rumors coming out of Cincy that he has removed his name from consideration. But there's been no official confirmation of that.

Barnhart is playing all of this really, really close to the vest so I don't know that anyone really knows what the next move will be if Jones turns UK down.

ETA: I will say the one consistent rumor has been that part of UK's package is a significant increase in the financial commitment to Kentucky Football. No specifics have been released but any of the local talking heads have mentioned that it's a really sweet deal. Fulmer eluded to this in a recent interview after he spoke with some UK people.

What are the commitment being discussed or rumored? New facility, jets, better salaries?

There's been some hub bub about facility upgrades and if the coach is worth it a bump in salaries as well.

UK will be presenting a proposal to the state to request over $120 million is bonds for improvements to the football and baseball facilities.

Alot of smoke swirling around here with Jones being the man. If it is, it is a solid hire. Neighbor said NO ONE is talking within athletics and he said NO ONE knows what direction Mitch is going...BUT PETRINO was NEVER considered. Seems like info on Jones is coming out of Cinci.

Not trying to be a pain here, but what makes him a solid hire? His overall record is pretty good at a MAC and a Big East school. His conference record in the Big East currently sits at 10-9. That isn't encouraging to me. The loss to Rutgers at home last weekend without scoring a TD is weighing on me too..
I think he might be a hire, but I don't really consider him a solid hire.

Cinci was BE Co-champs last year for the regular season. He will have recruiting connections in the Cinci area and hiring a coordinator that can recruit the south would be a nice mix. Plus, he is energetic and full of fire which is badly needed in Lexington.

UK should also consider McIntyre, he would be an awesome choice for UK if Jones turns us down.

Mike, I don't disagree that his ties to areas like Cincy and Michigan would be a good for recruiting, since other SEC schools aren't spending much time there. If we do hire him, I would want him to hire a recruiter for the south as well.
I think being the northern most SEC school does have advantages in Illinois/Michigan/Ohio/PA and such, but we never seem to try very hard in those areas.
Who's McIntyre?

Happy Thanksgiving as well!

I think I found him, the San Jose coach. Solid record so far and sounds like a good coach. Reminds me of one on my short list, DeRuyter at Fresno State.

Good morning. Happy Turkey Day. Sitting and watching UK vs Morehead on ESPN 3 on X Box.

Google McIntyre and San Jose State. Was under Harbough at one time...had a father who coached at Vandy...built a program that was for shite and has made them into winners.

Will be playing La Tech this weekend. Check out the possible futre UK coaches go at it.

Very quiet over at Nutter. Mitch and crew has done an awesome job keeping it on the lockdown, so...it could mean either they are getting a solid hire (big one) or doing their homework for a solid hire. Jones maybe a smoke screen or Jone's camp leaking it to get Cinci in facility improvements and better contract.

Mike, yeah, Barnhart not saying anything (of course, he rarely does), kind of makes me think he has someone ready, just waiting to announce it. Maybe, maybe not.

MIKE MACINTYRE, San Jose State MacIntyre, 47, has engineered an amazing turnaround in just three seasons with the Spartans. SJSU won one game in his debut season of 2010 and faced massive academic obstacles. But MacIntyre has changed the culture of the program on and off the field, and the Spartans are bowl eligible at 9-2. His resume includes stops at Georgia and Duke, and in the NFL with the Cowboys and Jets. The core question: Does he have enough sizzle to inspire Cal fans to buy those ESP long-term season tickets?

I think this is going to be UK's guy, he has SEC connections and I don't see Cal really trying to hire him. I think Cal goes for Roman.
