This is right up there with the stupidest crap I have ever read on this site.

You better hope this isn't the thinking of the powers that be at Arkansas. If it is you are doomed become what Ole Miss is.

Franklin would be a awesome hire for Arky and I for one hope he doesn't ended up at Auburn.

Endowments are used for academics, not athletics

vanderbilt doesn't have an athletic department. i imagine that changes their funding structure.

wiki:
quote:

In September 2003, Vanderbilt disbanded its athletic department. Intercollegiate athletics are now administered as a part of the university's Division of Student Life, which oversees all student organizations and activities. Vanderbilt is currently the only Division I school without a separate athletic department. In making this decision, Chancellor Gordon Gee cited a need to reform college athletics, returning the emphasis to the student half of student-athletes.

Vandy has an athletic department. It's just been assumed into the general structure of Student Life, which does actually expand its funding structure. The headlines of Vandy eliminating the department were misleading. It was a merger, not an abolition.

The AD, Williams, will do what it takes to keep Franklin here, if Arkansas truly even wants him before he's proven himself.

Arkansas would hire Gus Malazhan before we would hire a James Franklin. I think this is funny especially when Rousell said Franklin was NOT in the mix then he releases a statement saying he was not interested. How funny is that. Wonder if it was even us who contacted him especially with Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee open as well.

Gus wouldn't even be getting mentioned if he wasn't from Arkansas. 1 DECENT year in a shitty conference isn't a great resume. He hasn't shown he can recruit. He hasn't shown he can put a staff together.

If we would, hypothetically, choose Gus over Franklin, we'd be fricking stupid as shite.

I don't want him but his résumé is better than 1 decent year. He's won every school he's been at in college.

Arkansas- Made an SEC title game
Tulsa- Offense was great.
Auburn- Championship
Arkansas St- A good year for them.

not to argue but 2 of your examples aren't fair imo- arkansas i can't give gus truly any credit for our success that season- dmac and felix etc. and at auburn he had cam, jls might could have coached him to a natty that year.

this is what i figured. also, i am one of the many who wouldn't like the Franklin hire.

edit: make that lukewarm at best. I wouldn't be pissed, but I definitely woldn't be excited or think of it as a good hire.
