Saw it when I was checking out the new bookstore today and was wondering if anyone had read it and if it was worth reading

I read it. It's very well done.

Will read its sequel (Road to Woodbury) once I finish tge book I'm on now.

I have read both - I think it is supposed to be a trilogy.

I really enjoyed them and it gives a whole new insight into The Governor.

I think I have read every excellent, good, and bad zombie book and I would put these in the upper tier with "The Feed Trilogy" and "World War Z".

Rise of the Governor and The Road to Woodbury are normal novels right? As in not graphic novels?

Ok that's what I thought. I'm going to read both after I finish the book I'm reading. I'm interested to see how the Governor became who he is in the comics.

LOVE the "Day by Day Armaggedon" series.

"The White Flag of the Dead" books are really good too.

Do they have any relation to the comics or TV show? As in would it contain any spoilers or is it its on separate story?

RotG was okay. It speeds up, then goes to a crawl, then speeds up. I found good to explain the character, but inconsistent writing.

No spoilers for the comics or TV show.

Not to be too spoilery about the novels but it follows The Governor from the start of the zombie apocalypse and how Woodbury started.

None of the main group - Rick, Shane, Lori, Glenn, etc. have appeared in the first two books.

We ought to start a zombie book club on here.

Yeah, it can actually stand on it's own.

Now, The Governor on the show is totally different from the books. That's one thing the straight up show watchers need to relax about when people talk about the comic. There are similarities between the two but the people that read the comics (like myself) have no idea what is going to happen in the show.

Saw this thread and went and bought it today. I'm about 30 pages in and it's pretty good so far. I love the show and always wonder what each character went through before we first see them.

Reading it now and just saw this line. Don't worry, nothing spoilery about it.

Brian has plenty of time to imagine the perfect place for the weary traveler in the land of the dead. He imagines an enormous, sprawling fortress with gardens and walks and impenetrable moats and security fences and guard towers.

Team Moat approves.
