Kind of depends on what you're reading or who you're talking to, but these are the main differences to me:

Stuffing tends to be a looser consistency, made with hunks of bread (often stale). Sometimes it is cooked inside the bird, though not necessarily. Yankee food.

Dressing is usually made with cornbread and has more of a souffle consistency and texture. Southern food.

Sounds like a personal problem.

It is cornbread dressing.

I typically say turkey and dressing because we always have cornbread dressing but if it's in the bird it's definitely stuffing.

This. Grew up in Iowa, have in laws in Texas and live in Louisiana. In Iowa we said stuffing, in Texas they say Dressing and in Louisiana they say dressing.

yes it is a LA thing
They call it dressing in Alabama also. A co worker form East Texas calls it dressing also.

But most people think I am talking about salads when I say "I'll bring the dressing" to Thanksgiving dinners.

Both suck without giblet gravy.
Agreed.

Is it G-iblet gravy or G (j)iblet gravy. I say (j) because it is made with the jiblets of the turkey.

My Pennsylvania father and New York city family called it both as do I. Just whatever comes to mind. And not always cornbread. My families oyster dressing is French bread. My in laws make a white bread stuffing.

And yes I need gravy but not giblets gravy with hard boiled eggs in it.

No...dressing is the south. Don't know what is wrong with people in NC. Most people in the south do dressing vs stuffing..
