He set the cornerstone for what became corporate America. Along the way, politicians from both parties took the personal risk out of the equation.

I love this show. It is my favorite on tv. However, it is rife with inaccuracies. Appreciate that they are trying to condense years of history into a short period of time while keeping it interesting. They are taking many liberties. For instance, Rockefeller gets way too much credit for Standard Oil's success. Standard Oil had a large and powerful board that made decisions together. They invented the modern day corporation structure. Rockefeller pulled back from the day to day operations pretty early and focused more on charity while others continued to expand his fortune and empire. So I enjoy the entertainment but appreciate it is just that - entertainment.

JP Morgan also ended the US's first major economic depression by paying off the US debt, or at least arranging for it to be paid off by a consortium he put together. Can you imagine that happening today?

Morgan's another guy who is just fascinating. He wanted to win, but I'm not sure he wanted money. He wanted to be the Most Powerful Man Alive, and I think he got his rocks off bailing out the US government.

Just got halfway through the latest episode and had to turn it off. They were just making things up about Rockefeller regarding the coal interests. He hired a former minister to handle all of his non-standard oil investments and Rockefeller had little to no involvement in the investment decisions made. He was fully retired from Standard Oil at that point and was in his 60's. Carnegie was even older by that point, yet they keep showing these guys as though they never aged past 35. I enjoyed it to that point, but the inaccuracy just became too much to bear.

I liked it but it dragged a little for me. I thought more could have been covered. I was fairly familiar with these particular men anyway. Overall I enjoyed it though.

Most specifically the election of McKinley where the wealthy paid off media to resort to scare tactics in terms of voting. This sounds so familiar. However, the south voted Democrat in that election... how dare they support socialism like that.

660 billion dollars (adjusted) and 1.51 percent of total GDP is just insane.
