I wish he would have been exposed in court and then died of a heart attack walking off the stand!

McQueary was a young 20 something or other GA who went to his dad for advice, like any son under these circumstances (JoPa as the all powerful HC, Sandusky a revered hero, etc etc) would have done. When JoPa told him that he would take care of it, then to most 20 yr olds, that would suffice. Never heard bout him playing golf with Sandusky, all I've heard is his comments that he would get up & walk out of a room if Sandusky entered it.

I would've called the police, sorry. I would be calling my dad after the phone call to the police.

I wish Paterno would have stayed alive long enough to see the sanctions the NCAA laid down on Penn State.

That's easy to say several years later without all of the other baggage that he had at the time.

We know he knew. You actually believe he was that naive to the situation?

We know he had second hand info, we do not know that he bribed McQuery to kept quite, which is what someone alluded to.

so you want to charge him with a misdemeanor? yeah, that will show him

As far as we know, that's all Paterno is guilty of. He didn't molest kids and to the best of my knowledge, he didn't personally witness anything. Now he absolutely should have called the police or had Spainer/Curley do so after what McQueary reported and banned Sanduky from the campus.

I think he was too. That is the only possible way this was kept quiet.

I expected him to retire and die soon thereafter. No pos or neg feelings either way. Sad for his grandkids, etc though!

True but I'll always believe a future was given in exchanged for letting others handle it.

Will die believing that. I can't stand any of the people that knew.

IMO FWIW

I kige this.

I don't really see a good criminal case. He reported what he was told to his supervisors. That's enough to meet his legal obligations, but not his moral obligations.

Civil court would have been the venue for going after JoePa. Then you can argue gross negligence.

That's enough for me to condemn him considering the situation. Throw in the fact that he led us all believe that he had high morals etc and I think he's a huge hypocrite and pos.

I wouldn't want to convict him of anything cause you would waste more money than it'd be worth. I'd spit in his face though if I could.

"maybe he didn't know the severity of the issue"

My argument would be, anything he knew about a coach on his staff and young boys was severe. This is no way you can sugar coat that for me.

McQueary was born in 1974...he was late 20's when he witnessed the shower scene! I do view him more as a victim though than a culprit...he is going to get a big settlement too.

Easy for self-righteous folks to criticize what he did...he did something! These folks have no idea what they would do!

Neither. My hatred is reserved for the man responsible, Sandusky. I think hating Paterno just became the popular or cool thing to do so everybody jumped onto the bandwagon. From the beginning, I have highly doubted the sincerity of those hating on Paterno. Unlike most sheep, I think for myself.

Pretty much nailed it. Sandusky is the sick frick. Not Paterno.
