Finally made it to R'evolution two Saturday's ago (LSU/Auburn weekend). My husband and I, along with another couple (we'll call them Mr.& Mrs. X) had 6pm reservations. We were promptly seated and I appreciated that they give the women little stools to place their purses/bags on. It also appears they offer some women shawls if they are cold. Dinner jackets were preferred but I saw one guy in a golf shirt and another guy in a white undershirt.

Started off with drinks and appetizers. Mr. X and I ordered the Sizzling Oysters Revolution and Mr. iluv ordered the Seafood Gumbo. Our oysters were presented on a plate atop a salt block, which I thought was kinda cool looking. We both liked our sizzling oysters, but I will say that Drago's does it better. Mr. Iluv never received his gumbo, instead receiving a seafood trio consisting of tuna tartare, salmon tartare, and crabmeat salad. When the assistant server returned to the table, we told her it was not our correct appetizer, but we were fine with keeping it and cancelling the gumbo. The trio was really good and there was enough for each of us to have a bite.

For the main courses, I chose the Bird in Cage. The presentation of this dish was very cool. It was pieces of white meat and dark meat covered by a parmesan cheese "net". That's the best description I can give, and I loved it. Mr. iluv chose the Triptych of Quail, which consisted of a fried quail, a boudin stuffed quail, and an absinthe glazed quail. I had a bite of the first two and really liked it. Mr. iluv thought his was really good. Mr. X chose the paneed veal chop, which I thought was the best of all our dishes, but he said it was "pretty decent". Mrs. X chose a shrimp and grits special that the head waiter described as "revolutionized shrimp and grits". Well, I guess she wasn't ready for the revolution, because she hated it. She ate 2 of her 4 shrimp and one bite of her grits. I did take a bite of the grits and they seemed fine to me, but there was a strong taste that I could not identify.

For our sides, we chose the artichoke mirleton au gratin, brussell sprouts and the corn macque chow pudding. Mr. and Mrs. X hated the artichoke and brussell sprouts. I liked the artichoke but did not try the brussell sprouts. Mr. iluv liked both. The corn macque chow did not arrive until after we were done eating. It arrived in a very hot dish, but was very cold and I actually thought it was dressing.

The dessert menu was given to us on a ipad, which I thought was pretty cool, but by that point in time, we were going on hour 3 of dinner and we were all ready to get to a tv to watch the game. I would also like to add that they mixed up who got what food and drinks the entire meal. We didn't make a big deal out of it, just handed each other the correct plate or drink after the assistant waiter walked off. When our check was presented to us, we were given what appeared to be a chinese music box, but it actually contained all kinds of little sweet treats from the pastry chef. We also were visited by Mr. Folse himself at the beginning of the meal, which I thought was nice. He went around and talked to every table in the restaurant.

Even though there were a few service issues and food mixups, I would definitely go back. They are still "new" and really need to work out their issues so it's easier to swallow that bill at the end of the meal.

this is not related to your review, more about the time you were there

at this time, me and the wife were staying right across the street at Hotel Mazarin, I was probably standing on our balcony, waiting for her to get ready (we had reservations at Commanders at 7), and I saw a nice fight right in front of the restaurant between a bum and some drunk chick. Did you witness this? It had to have been right around 6.

just thought I'd share

actually, they sat us at a table by the window facing hotel mazarin. I saw something happen right when we sat down, and I said something to everyone but you know stuff like that happens all the time and we didn't pay any more attention to whatever was happening. How was Mazarin? I know they have been doing lots of renovations. I had my wedding reception in that courtyard.

This is not related to your review either, although it was a fine one. But I would love to know what Mr. X thought of Densel's portrayal. I for one found it to be spot on.

the hotel was quite nice, not the quietest place to stay, but that is to be expected so close to Bourbon

Great review. Loved the details. Hopefully, the service issues will be worked out.

Only 4 shrimp on the entree? What size were they? I can't imagine less than 6 unless they were prawns.

they were good sized shrimp. Everything was portioned about the same size as Restaurant August proportions-on the small side.
