Leave your OT thoughts over there for a minute and help me out...

Got a 1lb of conecuh sausage with an expiration date of 2 weeks from now. Take it out of the package and it's covered in some goo...

Will I die if I eat it in my jambalaya tonight?

Not worth the risk, just go get some more.

Wash if off under a bit of warmish water, thengive it the sniff test. It is not an uncommon thing, just most never dealt with it these days.

Did it look like the it was still vacuum sealed? I'd toss it anyway if it was slimy.

If in doubt, throw it out.

You won't die tonight, but you might die tomorrow.

Let me be serious "Throw it away, or take it back and get your money refunded."

I've noticed this as well. I've eaten it and lived (so far)

i've seen this with homemade sausages that are precooked and sit a while. If they pass the smell test i haven't had a problem.

i'd be more nervous, though, about either raw sausages or storebought ones

Never eat something that stinks.

I will eat things WELL beyond expiration or even left out a little too long BUT IF IT STINKS toss it.

So did you eat it and are you still alive?

This would have a totally different meaning on the OT.

I figured this would be listed as all three of your reasons.

I need to hook you up with some venison sausage and save you from that store bought stuff. I'll check next time I'm headed to your office to let you know to bring an icechest.
