Why cant actors act like they are really playing video games?

I love the whole mashing buttons like crazy. Then turn and look at camera, oblivious to the T.V. While still pressing buttons.

There is stage video game playing, just like stage computer use (typing for three minutes to execute a simple command, and never use the mouse), stage bathroom use (always splash water on your face and eye yourself cautiously in the mirror like you don't trust yourself). Only serial killers do the stage bathroom routine in real life.
