Is this kid the real deal or is he another JJ Redick who has to come off screens and can't create his own shot?

Pretty sure he's the real deal...

He was pulling up from everywhere bombing 3's

He can shoot a little bit off the dribble and he's got this ridiculous scoop shot that seems to be indefensible, at least it was to the Gators in the NCAA tourney last year.

There next televised game appears to be Feb 26th, at least on a major network, I'd like to watch the kid play.

He's better than JJ with the ball. Very quick. I think the guy is going to be a very good NBA player.

He's not really a point guard and he's probably too short to play the 2 in the pros. I'm not sure what he would play in the NBA. Probably would have to try to play the point

I'm holding back until I determine if he is Mormon

Well he can't be that intelligent then

Maybe his physical abilities will cancel that out

He can play, but I don't think it will translate to the next level. Too small - listed at 6'2 - to be a 2 guard. Doesn't necessarily make his teammates better. Not athletic enough.

Redick has improved his handle and playmaking ability tremendously over the past couple of years and is a couple of inches taller than Jimmer.

We've played him twice in the NCAA tournament ('08 and '09) and shut him down both times. In both games, A&M beat BYU fairly easy with stifling defense.

Now, that's not to say this kid hasn't improved and may in fact be an all world stud NOW, but when I saw him in person, I wasn't overly impressed.

Someone hasn't been watching JJ lately.

Fredette will be a lottery pick this year. He's very athletic and a good enough ball handler to be a point in the NBA. Lights out shooter from anywhere.

Reminds me of a more physical Mark Price.

JJ's a real live NBA 2 guard now.

Not saying he hasn't turned out to be a solid NBA player (there's always room for great shooters in the NBA), but that link is still mostly spot up jump shots.

I'm more comparing JJ college v Jimmer college. I know JJ has worked on his ball skills.

Gotcha.

I thought you meant as far as his prospect as a pro.

Jimmer is a much more dynamic scorer than JJ was in college, much better handling the ball, and much much much much much better scoring in traffic

although one was playing in the ACC, the other in MWC or whatever BYU is in
