Jim Rome yesterday about Les

In case you missed it, here's Jim Rome's take on Les Miles yesterday on his ESPN show "Jim Rome Is Burning":
Jim Rome / 9-23-2008
Personally, I don’t think there’s any doubt USC is the best team in America. Although, you know you’d get an argument from Georgia…Florida…Oklahoma…maybe even Missouri, or BCS buster BYU. But the one team you don’t want to sleep on, is the defending national champion LSU Tigers, because you don’t want it to go to the score cards against the defending champs! You’re going to have to knock them out to beat them.
Auburn found that out again Saturday night at home. Down 11 at half, in a hostile environment, where they hadn’t won in a decade, Les Miles went “Les Miles” in the locker room, came out…gambled huge on the field and as always, it paid off!
Clearly, these guys just are not afraid. And they play well from behind! No matter how badly things are going, someone will step up and make plays. In this case, it was quarterback Jarrett Lee. Lee had a terrible start, then watched as Andrew Hatch went all googly-eyed and punch drunk after a big hit and then Lee just hulked out and put the team on his shoulders. He threw an absolute “dime on the game” winner proving once again…it doesn’t matter how many guys they sent to the NFL, you can never count-out a Les Miles team out.
Despite all those losses, and all those questions at quarterback, it’s looking more like a reload than a rebuild. And that “brass set” that Les Miles has is “second to none”.

I thought Miles was still winning with Saban's players?

I saw some of the comments on a website linked on the home page, but I didn't see all of these comments. Thanks.

I heard that on the radio yesterday. That was pretty good. You left out the part when he said
"The only thing missing from the hit on hatch were the little birdies and the stars over his head"

Finally, Les is getting the credit he deserves. My husband and I were talking after the AU game...it's not just winning that's so much fun, it's watching these coaches and these players and the way they win...this is the first time, I can ever remember where our opponents have to worry about LSU pulling some trick or unusual play out of the bag and not LSU worried about what a Spurrier or a Tubberville will do to us...it's a great, great time to be a Tiger fan! Kudos to our players, coaches and staff for making our team a joy to watch.

geauxgrrl, you hit the nail on the head, you really did. Les Miles is like a woman, completely unpredictable. Smile

I would bet my life that 2 years ago, this same little fig Rome, was saying "Les is doing good, but he's doing good with Saban's players". Now he has changed his tune because he thinks no one will remember that from 2 years ago. Rome is a little douchbag.

I may be wrong, but I don't recall Rome saying that Miles won with Saban's players. That doesn't sound like something he would say. He might have said "Miles doesn't get the credit he deserves because people say he is winning with Saban's players...", but I don't think he took that position himself.
Look, whether or not you like his style, Rome usually has pretty good takes. I think his e-mail bits and his clones are a bit over the top, but when he does serious analysis, he is usually spot on.
