Contraflow on Sunday morning would make the most sense. Many coming to the game from New Orleans and Morgan City, etc. might as well just bring their stuff with them and consider the game a pitstop on their way out of harm's way.

Just read on another thread about a 3 pm meeting with LSU police/sheriff .. not sure who else.

Possible meeting to discuss the evacuees that will be held in the PMAC (Hospital patients) just like when Katrina hit!

Failed to see how a hurricane expected to hit land on Tuesday has anything to do with a Saturday game being played or not. Yeah it might affect the fans, but the game must go on.

Do any of you people watch the news? Jindal has already stated that if it stays on this path, contraflow will begin Saturday.

Do you really, in your right mind, think they will have a game played in BR with all the traffic going through there?

I don't care when the storm is expected to hit. I am telling you facts. Go look it up.

Just read the threads man. If contraflow starts Saturday it would be a logistical nightmare.

Then watch it on the tube

The storm will be passing over/near the western tip of Cuba during the game---nearly 700 miles from New Orleans.

Uh, I'm pretty sure the game is going to go off as scheduled.

HUH?? the storm will be by Cuba late Saturday. There is no fricking way it makes landfall on Sunday, Late monday is very doubtful.. GFDL was fast everybody already knew that and its correcting itself.

The official forecast has it picking up speed over the weekend and sitting just off our coast at 2am Monday morning. Thus, a Monday landfall. That may or may not happen, but that is the info the officials have to go by until it changes.

Thank you.... someone that actually looks at more than one estimated path

Of the 4 or 5 projected paths that I have looked at... the weatherchannel is the only one that doesnt have it off of the mouth of the mississippi early mon morning

The official forecast

What is the official forcast?? Is that sponsored by PowerAid? Nobody has an official forcast. The NHC simply runs ensembles on the models and produces a mathematical run of major models combined. I have not seen any run that puts the hurricane at landfall on Sunday. Most models have a late monday early tuesday landfall.

I think that given Gov. Blanco's disastrous handling of Katrina, Jindal will be overly cautious in allowing enough time for everyone to evacuate. So we may experience overkill.

Thanks, Blanco.

That could easily backfire.. If you order an evac of NOLA and dont have an accurate forcast of 2 days and shoot for an inaccurate forcast of 3 days then you could effectivly endanger lives.

Yes you will.... when the path narrows down on Friday... If the cone has it Mobile to Central La expect Jindal to order the evac

Don't be a jerk. We all know the NHC puts out an official forecast that is used by all the media outlets and government officials.

If you wanna say it's inaccurate, fine. But don't pretend there isn't an official forecast.

Premature imo. There would be plenty of time to get out on Sunday and Monday for those who want to leave.Might as well cancel all home games in September.

Couldn't agree more... Game is Saturday... plenty of time to get out of dodge after, lets play the f'ing game... In 2005 we all went nuts waiting until late Sept for a home game, it'd be a damned shame for that to happen again...
