+1. Couldnt have been said better. The biggest thing about this was most kids on the CSAL teams were intimidated before the game even started against a public school. I didnt say all of the kids were intimidated. I said most of them were. If you have 3 good players and 2 players that are intimidated or scared, you got no shot.

I was in 8th grade during the 95-96 school year. There was this kid that went to our lady of mercy that was like so developed for his age. Dude had like a goatee and shite. Anyone remember this kids name? I want to say maybe Travis.........

Well this brings up an interesting question:
Which league is tougher:
CSAL - zone defense allowed, mandatory play for 6th-7th grade, press restrictions in some tournys
St. George, STM, Sacred Heart, Mercy, St. Alphonsus, St. Jude, Holy Ghost, etc
ISAA - no zone allowed, no press restrictions, no mandatory play
Southern Lab, Christian Life, Baker, Northwestern, Parkview, U-High, Episcopal, West Feliciana, Dunham, Clinton, Bethany, Jackson, Walker (6th), Denham (6th), CSAL (yes there's a school named this and they are damn good, 8th only)
I think it's obvious that the ISAA is incredibly more tough. There is tons of depth, extremely athletic players on each team, no zone d makes you have to be able to guard the super athletic kids without sitting back in a zone, no mandatory play ensures that the best players are usually on the court

CSAL must be fairly competitive as of late since CHS has won district the last two seasons.

that was my team(one year younger than applewhite)..we only lost one game 7th grade to stm..and 2 in 8th grade(stm, olom)..they had some beasts those years..
-we were loaded my 6th, and 7th grade years- applewhite(before chs transfer) plaisance(before olom transfer), nathan black(played in the nfl-but didnt even start the whole year at QB at sgs) adam serrano, rogan bernard, kyle melancon, etc. etc.

Good point. They also went undefeated in summer league this year. 20-0 or something like that, including tournaments.

Really??
I remember getting excited about how well we did during summer league against public schools, then realizing when the school season started it looked like we were playing an entirely diff team and the outcome was a little different. Going to catholic school I never understood that some people actually worked during the summer b/c their families werent as fortunate.
