Lots of people have images or symbolic things that are important to them, but yet don't feel the need to permanently engrave themselves with that image. I like the quote "scars are tattoos with better stories." Just think when you have kids one day and they ask what that weird looking mark on you is. If I was dating someone with a tattoo i would demand they get it removed before we got married. Tattoos are a great sign of bad judgement imo. It will be nothing more than a black smear on your body when you are 60 and older.

Why? You have the means to rid yourself of a mis-judgement.....if you see it that way. Thus, if you chose to keep it, then some of us chose to stay away due to your choice being an expression of who you really are.....

I do, however, gauge trashiness by size, theme, number, and location. Tweetie Bird on your arse is not nearly as troubling as a 9" dragon tramp stamp.

Well, it's not like you or anyone else will ever see it.

I meant that it looks good on you... implying that I had seen it. But it didn't come across very well... my bad.

"D'Mac wuz up in this murff" on the upper part of your inner thigh would be a good look for you DC, as opposed to my earlier "slippery when wet" suggestion.

I don't get offended often. But you might be the first person to do so on here. I don't look like someone you'd expect to have a tattoo, but I got it because it has a hell of a lot of meaning to me. And if you're ignorant enough to assume I don't have any class because I got a tattoo, please please PLEASE stay away from me.

Touched a nerve I see. I do respect sentimental values, but an 18" tribute makes me question the psychological stability of a person. If someone honors something significant to themselves, though, I would exclude them from the typical attention-craving trash. Service people are a good example.

Besides, inked-based judgements are typically a secondary measure. If the jury is still out, the illustrated items will not help (outside of said deeply personal tats).

I have never understood why some people feel so strongly about this subject. It's just a tattoo for frick's sake.

This topic has varrying levels of significance. Anywhere from your teenage daughter getting Buddha on her ankle to Adolf getting tears put next to his eye. Your daughter is being "expressive", where Adolf is full of hate.

You mean Traveller? LOL.

Anyways, back in the 80's and 90's getting a tattoo was a sign that you were a "rebel" and outsider. Now something like 40-50% of Americans aged 18-24 have a tattoo. So if you get one, it just means that you are a trend follower and a sheep not a rebel. It says a lot more about yourself if you DON'T have tattoos than if you do. People who don't get tattoos have the intelligence and foresight to see that permanently marking themselves with an image that will degrade over time isn't the best idea for your career or family life.
