he was also one of the best decision making qb's we've had at LSU. He was better than flynn is at that, and he was 100% better than mauck at that

Based on college play only:

1. Tommy Hudson
2. JaMarcus Russell
3. Bert Jones

I see many putting Y. A. Tittle on thier list....

A full 1/3 of Y.A. Tittle stats come from only 4 games.

In those four games vs Tulane he had near 1/3 of his total yardage, 1/3 his total TDs, 1/3 of his total completions.

Y.A. Tittle was a great pro qb, but under the LSU system in play he was limited due to the war and coaching. Its not until his jr year his wrs are very good and the change in formation helps, but it didn't open up his throwing as Bernie was more of a ball control type coach.

Y.A. played hurt most of his Sr. year.

oh crap this is turning to a Flynn vs Russel debate...

And for the record... Flynn sucks. If we have JR this year we are undefeated. Period.

I really do not want to get into this discussion with someone as shallow as to state what you did, but how can you know that when JR never went undefeated in his career? He had games where he turned the ball over just as much as Flynn has, he had games where he failed to score a single touchdown.

I can never understand why our "fans" always want to tear down our QB's. Each has done a wonderful job and has had good and bad days.

Leave it alone and get behind the guy.

I am behind Perrilloux because he has consistantly outperformed flynn, and been benched for it.

JR never went undefeated cause his schedules were harder and on the road.

Flynn is undertalented, but i dont completely blame him. When the guy gets flustered, instead of letting him sit for a while and get his head back, they refuse to play perrilloux. I like how Flynn sat the bench for 4 years, but how many guys do that? You have no problem with how we will bench Hatch do you? Of course not.

I dont knock the quarterback but i give credit where it is due. JR made some mistakes, most of which were away, and based around a flawed running game and a poor Offensive game plan.

And anyway i actually like Flynn as a person and as a leader, but any time your quarterback dislocated his shoulder, and instead of benching him you give him a shot and put him back on the field, it shows me bad favoritism.

you say you don't know him but yet you just said he sucks... which is it?

and no RP has had bad performances this year as well. He wasn't benched due to on the field performance either.

Also JR had a much easier schedule in 05... what happened there besides Katrina? I know the team was tired, but JR put the team in bad spots quite often. We would not have needed his miracle comebacks if he had not gotten us in that spot.

I love JR as a tiger, but I cannot stand the way people feel the need to tear down Flynn to make him look better... just stop.

1. Bert Jones(4th in heisman voting, poy, most decorated qb in history at LSU)

2. Matt Mauck ( our version of tom brady, good stats but won 2 sec titles and nc)

3. Tommy Hodson ( a lot of victories over ranked teams,2 sec titles,9000 yards passing.wow)

4. Rohan Davey(he had a better season than Peyton Manning that year)

5. JaMarcus Russell( not a great college career, but was one of the best his last two seasons)

You are African American aren't you? This is so wrong, I think it may be race based. Please, before anyone goes off on me for bringing race into it, i'm not, I think this cat already did. Just read what I quoted him on and tell me this is based on anything substantial. It isn't, which is why I think it is based on something entirely different than what happened on the field. Even if i'm dead wrong about his intentions, I just disagree and want to call him on it. By the way, I LOVE JR and hope he dominates the NFL... something I don't think Flynn will get much of a shot at. The only colors i'll ever see on that field are Purple and Gold... I wish more people would see it that way.

The same discussion on Flynn vs. RP has been stirred up again. I think Flynn needs to look at being a coach because he won't be much of a NFL player. He does good from the sidelines. Why does everyone argue that Flynn has waited his turn is why he should play? There was a reason he was benched for 4 years. I hope Miles plays the best no matter how long they have been there. One thing is JR didn't get into the Ship with 2 losses

That is impossible to do. How could you rate a guy like Herb Tyler vs JR? Herb, recruited as a DB, was thrown into the leadership as a true freshman because the starter was injured. The guy accomplished amazing things. Wasn't Florida rated number 1 when we beat them. It's too bad Herb didn't have the coaching staff to take advantage of his talents. Bert Jones unfortunately played for a conservative minded coach who never allowed Jones to use his talents to his full capability.
Nelson Stokely was another guy who burst out as a sophomore after the starter was injured. Freshmen were not allowed to play in those days. Stokely was an awesome leader.
Booty, Nall, and Rohan were all handicapped by Dinardo and his refusal to hire a competent OC. Once Jimbo took over Booty made All SEC and Rohan set records.

Isn't it ironic that we have a better offense this year after losing the #1 nfl draft pick at QB and 2 first round receivers?

Isn't it ironic that we have a much easier schedule, a much better OC, and a much better running game?

Why do people always try to turn shite into this kind of debate?

Matt Mauck has to be in the mix. 19-2 as a starter, 2 SEC Titles, and a National title. A Better career than most.

Mauck was average at best. His erratic passing caused Saban to reign in offense against Ole Miss and Oklahoma in '03.Tiger defense won the Natl. title.

I liked Rohan Davey....though an average QB he read the field as good as any i've seen. As for LSU having a better running game this year ..thats just false...Faulk, Addai, Broussard used to change the comlexion of the games.. This year has relied more on passing IMO.. not that Keiland is a slouch or Hester..i think the Oline was just created more holes back then. IMO ..before someone beats me with a rake..
