Harris won't stop them from putting up 500+ yards and 40 points... Going to be a lot of ranters screaming for Chavis's head after this one.

Harris aside this team is so young. It's tough to win on the road in the sec with veterans. I think this game will be won or be competitive if LSU can run the ball. The oline needs to show up with an attitude. Keep the defense fresh and we can win.

Man, what a great post. This is how it's supposed to be. Going to be a pleasure watching this team evolve into a team that will make a championship run next year!!!

As for the OP, I went from 100% loss, to 80% loss, mostly due to the energy of the team we all noticed once Harris came in.

Momentum is a real thing, and LSU seemed to find it on both sides of the ball, although it has to be said, that was against New Mexico State.

LSU D was #2 in the country and fooled many here that they were actually elite after SHS and ULM, and MSU proved just how silly that idea was.

The same could be true with the offense against AU after NMS.

Still, Auburn doesn't have a great secondary, similar to MSU, so if the change was made to Harris sothat we can air it out to Dural, Dupre, DDiarse, and Quinn and attack the weakness rather than banging our head against the wall running right into their strength because "that's who we are", then we have a chance. If not, the change to Harris is irrelevant.

Even if Harris is allowed to cut loose, I still don't see any way our DL slows down Auburn's run game. They had almost 300 yards rushing on the second half last year, and don't see how they don't approach 400 this year in JHS.

We'll need to score 40 to win, and just have a hard time seeing a freshman doing that in his first start, on the road, at Auburn.

LSU 27

With Jennings you had no shot.. With Harris you still don't win but you may be competitive for a quarter or two. Defense still has holes and Harris is still a freshmen, along with a lot of other contributors on the offense. Auburn pulls away late and wins 45-20. And don't forget Auburn has lost to us 3 times in a row and 5 of the last 6. This is their best chance to end that streak..

Definite loss with Jennings Maybe a future Heisman for Harris. You bet my outlook has changed.

Still think we struggle because of defense and this will be Harris' first start. I expect Miles to open with the running game to give Harris a chance to get over the first start jitters, so we'll probably go three and out the first couple of series, giving Auburn a chance to score first.

If Harris settles down, performs well and generates some offense then I'll be encouraged. If we keep the game close, then I'll start getting excited about next year. If we pull off a win, then I'll probably get over enthusiastic and expect too much this year, but at least it will be fun again.

Went from definitely losing to 30/70 chance of winning. They're still going to run all over us.

That's correct.
We are a completely different team with Harris on the field.

I had this game marked down as a loss before the season, and even more so after MSU, but seeing how both teams have played recently, I'm now thinking it's 50/50 and we have a good chance to win a close one. I don't know what it is about Harris, but more than just his numbers, it feels like he's the right guy. Everyone on the team just seems to play better when he's out there.

I agree.

In the New Mexico St. game BH got away with a couple of plays that I don't believe he get's away with against an SEC opponent. For example, a WR screen...it almost got picked by the NMSU corner. That same throw probably goes for a pick six against an SEC caliber corner. Another example is the busted play where BH scrambled for a TD and ran over the NMSU corner for the TD. He's probably dropped for a loss on that play against an SEC defense.

Don't get me wrong, BH's play has been great his last 3.5-4 quarters and he's the best we have at the QB position at the moment. I hope it continues against far superior talent and adverse conditions Saturday night in Jordan-Hare. BH and the entire LSU team, including coaches, will have to up their game to pull out a victory against Auburn.

We've already seen what Harris can do against an SEC defense, which is all the more reason I feel good about him. Granted MSU isn't Auburn, but he's shown he belongs on the big stage. He'll probably make some mistakes, but still learn a lot and grow from it, win or lose.

I believe for our offense to be productive throughout the game we need to open up the run with the pass. This will require great OL play and quick hits to open WRs. The WR that I trust the most to get open early is Diarse. I just like Diarse's strength for short 5-7 yard routes. It seems to take a half second or so for the other WRs to shake off the corners. Of course you could just throw it up to Malachi and allow him to out position the defender by simply using his height and jumping ability.

Anyway, if we can get Auburn to respect our passing game early then the running lanes will open up. If we get the running game going then our chances of winning goes up bigtime because we will be able to ball control and keep our thin DL rested.
