Yep. And my room was on the 10th floor, level with the H1 overpass over Nimitz. Spent a month in that hole.

We did a two week block of instruction at the USAWC on service cultures. Very enlightening discussions about how we all see our roles.
The Army? We are the handyman of the Nation (straight from the book excerpt we were reading).
Suddenly 28 years of service made a lot of sense.

We flew out of Ft Huahchuca (sp) a few years ago and the Army Bubbas we were drinking with were cracking up that we had 8 jets and flew 16 sorties per day with one Detco, one SNCO and about a total package of 45 people. They really couldn't figure out how we did it with no "leadership" it was eye opening.

Here is a long one for you. I am at Seymour Johnson Airbase in 2001 getting ready to deploy to Bosnia. Waiting for our charter to fly us to Fort Stewart to link up with the main element. F16s are doing touch and go landings on the landing strip and one has a hard landing and shuts down the airfield. We are stuck unitil is is cleared the next morning. All of our equipment is already in the belly of the aircraft and all we have is TAT. Roll out our poncho liners on the auditorium floor and deal with it. About 0200 in the morning I get tapped on the should (I am the Med TF S3) saying "Are you CPT Wolfhound?" I say yes and they say the post commander (AF COL) wants to talk to me outside. I am scared to death. Go outside and the COL says that us sleeping on the floor is unacceptable and wants to know what he can do to make this right. Our SNCO (E9 - CSM) taps me on the shoulder (I was such a moron) and says "Ask for sleeping bags." COL says not a problem and thirty minutes later they pull up in a panel van and start tossing them out to us (over 200 in our task force). Also tell us that in the morning they will be there with buses to take us to the DFAC for breakfast. I just sat there with my jaw dropping. No way the Army would have done that.

Yep. Reminds me of Graf. Sleeping on bunk springs because apparently mattresses would break the budget.

I won't comment because I have real issues with how our soldiers have been treated by liberal fricks due to their anti war campaigns.
