Being a sports fan is a lot more fun when you're not expecting the worst, in my opinion. It's only the 5th game why continue watching if you're already thrown in the towel?

I've tried to be positive about it, but it's just not happening this season. I think the winner of the division will go 9-7/8-8. We are lucky that our division sucks.

What makes this so painful is because when you are expecting greatness and taste shite instead, its tastes even worse. When you know its gonna be shite you can hold your nose and down it.

Redneck makes more sense than the pessimist's attitude. COME ON MAN! It'll take some passion for them to turn it around but there has been plenty signs of that during the Sean Payton era which still has me believing they believe. I actually can get behind the logic of a 7-1 home record this season and 3-5 road record given the 3 opponents you picked us beating on the road. Yes, we are 7-8 in our last 15 regular season road games but the silver lining that makes 10-6 possible? Bet all you Debbie downers and pessimists dont even care to know we are on a 17 game home winning streak under Payton. Which yes, means we have a better home field advantage than the Seahawks even. Seahawks are on a 15-1 streak at home? Psshht... that's nothing compared to our home record!

I see 5 more wins on that schedule max at our current level of play.

Weeks 7-15 looks like the toughest stretch of any schedule we've had in a long time.

I'm not throwing in the towel until they lose a home game, but I'm also not going to be optimistic.

I'm just in "show me" mode.

If you think about it, I know 'coulda woulda shoulda' but the Saints are a few plays from being 3-1 right now and leading the division and tied for HFA in the NFC.

That's why it's so important that the players realize they are still potenitally a good team.

In fact if we hold on against Atlanta and Cleveland, the Dallas game could have been different (not that we would have won.)

There is plenty of talent...improvements can be made.

...started 0-4 in 2007 with three blowouts...then won 4 in a row with a couple of blowouts...got to 7-7 and were right there at the end.

Today's team is more talented than that team...get to 2-3 and the bye, and it's on for the rest of the season...you can't really count home games as a loss until it happens.

it hurts me to say, but parts of the team rested on their laurels a little bit because of talent and previous success...that sense of urgency/excuses after a loss/everything will work out attitude will no longer be an issue

I could see us pulling off 10-6 somehow. I still have faith.

Even after the tough start, I can't see how anyone that follows the Saints/is a Saints fan can honestly predict that we don't win at least 8

I think there's a decent chance we end up 10-6. But we could end up 6-10. At this point, I have no idea.

How? We have played like dog shite all 4 games. Even the Minnesota game wasn't good. I appreciate optimism and hope they somehow pull it together, but these 4 games against what most would consider our easier opponents haven't given me any reason to believe this team can; talent alone isn't going to do it.

I will continue to go to all of the games, support the team, and will gladly eat crow if they can get this figured out; I just haven't seen anything that gives me hope (outside of the division being garbage).

Yeah I mean I'm counting on a spotless or 7-1 run at home like you posted. Maybe being in the dome fires those guys up so much that they make the key plays.

Jairus Byrd has to get better, period this dude is supposed to be an all pro if I'm not mistaken

We win this week and it's possible we could come out of the bye in first place of the division. Marinate on that.

the history of the team under Payton (only one 7 win season) and the talent and leadership on the team.

Jairus Byrd is not a bad player. He's a very good one that just has to figure it out...I'm sure missing first training camp with new team/new defense and having back surgery has a lot to do with it....that stuff matters even though they'll tell you a hundred times that it doesn't.

I believe that the D will get better with time

We WILL play better at home, as usual...improvements can and should be made...this team has the talent to be very good (not true of all teams). Talent's not everything, but it matters...the Saints and Patriots have much higher chances of "turning it around" than the Raiders or Jaguars.

...doesn't mean you won't.

Now, there are some legit concerns that have to be addressed if this team is gonna start winning...but again, I think the coaching staff/leadership will handle it.

DT play

ILB play (Lofton has been much better outside of Cowboys game. The rest have been real bad)

CB play

Pass-blocking

This team has no confidence at all and has a tough schedule ahead.

8-8 would be a miracle. Earlier I thought maybe a 5-11 or 6-10 season.

But we are staring at a 3-13 season.
