ISIS is now just several hundred meters from entering the city. All it would take would be one day of comprehensive airstrikes to prevent a massacre, but I guess Obama doesn't care about the Kurds.

In simpler terms, despite Vice President Biden's good efforts (rah rah), the hold up with plane parking at the NATO air base in Incirlik, and courtesy of President Erdogan's reluctance to join President Obama's anti-terror coalition, makes this appear like a Climax Blues Band "Couldn't Get it Right" performance.

ISIS has entered Kobane now and street fighting is taking place. Probably 5-10k civilians will be killed and 1-2k YPG soldiers, who were some of the most reliable moderates we could count on in Syria.

Thanks Obama! Great campaign we got going on here.

Hey, Turkey has got to get involved.

We are not putting ground troops in at this point, it won't happen. Stop blaming Obama and start looking at the players in the region that need to step up.

Turkey wants all the Kurds there killed. I don't think we can count on Turkey, if anything they should be considered one and the same as ISIS. Way past time for NATO to kick out Turkey.

Really, you are serious?

The Turks are a strong partner in that part of the world. I wouldn't call them "ISIS" or "ISIS Like". Turkey has some complications with the Kurds but they have been talking about an independent energy agreement with the Kurds outside of Iraq. In other words, the Turks look to be saying they could live and acknowledge a Kurdistan region or country governed by its own laws. Who else is saying this in the region?

It can keep eyes off his domestic crimes and deficiencies for at least few more years.

Al Jazeera is reporting that air strikes have slowed IS down in Kobane and that the Kurds are defending the city:

Turkey wants the Kurds exterminated which is why they have been funding & arming ISIS for the last two years. They also know that doing nothing destroys the possibility for an independent Kurdistan to be created. Turkey also wants to get rid of the Allawites in Syria so they are letting ISIS do their dirty work for them.

The problem is that this will eventually catch up very soon to Turkey as they fight ISIS on their home turf and the Kurds who will take out Turkey's lack of protection on the civilian population in Turkey as a thank you.

The US has been held hostage by Turkey who has told them they could bomb but only in designated areas far from Turkey thus allowing ISIS to eradicate the Kurds.

International political disaster in allowing a religious war to take place in this day and age.

100% Turkey wants to eradicate the Kurds from this area of Turkey. Turkey WAS a strong partner they are trying to assert themselves as the leader of the Muslim world. The agreement betweeen Turkey and the Kurds was done just for PR purposes. Turkey had no intention of allowing an independent Kurdistan because its not in their best interest nor is it in Iran's best interest.

So once Kobane falls and IS is done with slaughtering the Kurds, then Turkey will move in?

That's what he believes.

I think the longer you allow ISIS to gain ground and a strategic grip on the region the harder it becomes to root them out. Remember this is the stronghold of ISIS. Whatever the disagreements with the Kurds the alternative is worst.

They won't move against ISIS until Assad is taken out.

Damn right Turkey supports ISIS. ISIS fighters cross the border of Turkey freely and receive medical care in Turkish hospitals while YPG fighters can't get any food or water to help relieve Kobane across.
