Can't be elite if you can't win on the road.

The defense has struggled for years but Brees was always able to overcome their shortcomings. They had 3 points in 3 quarters yesterday. You wanna blame that all on the defense?

Obviously it was not a great offensive game for the Saints, but I think a large part of that is the play calling lately. No clue what the frick the coaches are thinking anymore.

This defense is worse than any D we've made the playoffs with, so...

He obviously has all the skills and tools to be the best in his profession so his inability to perform on the road is 100% mental.

He does have all the skills, but are you talking about physical tools?
Because he is playing well above his physical tools.
Talking about players, then I still don't agree. Colston is old, JG drops a lot of passes, and Sproles is no longer with them team but instead tearing it up with the Eagles.

We're facing a lot of cover 3s. Teams are keeping everything in front

which is easy because they know there is no threat at all of going over the top

its clear brees is late on tons of throws which is why Colston always gets murdered over the middle
he always underthrows along the sideline instead of throwing his man open. Its clear to see Brees arm strength isn't there

So he just lost it over this offseason?

Please. He's always been a guy that gets hit over the middle. He just can't catch the ball this year

No been in decline for a couple years now defenses no how to keep this O in front of them now because he cant get it over the top

Brees never relied of his arm strength it was never elite to begin with. it was more about timing

So why was he 2nd in deep passing yards last year?

Why did he have, by far, the best Passer Rating on deep balls last year?

15 TDs to 2 Ints last season, but he all of a sudden can't throw it

From 2008 - last year, he's been pretty dominant on his deep ball

The back shoulder throw to Meachem vs. the Browns showed plenty of arm strength.

Last year last year?

What I see this year is what I see. The ball gets there to late and the defender has all day to break on it, doesn't throw receivers open, underthrows them

So Sean Payton just becomes inept when he plays on the road?

You said its been on the decline for years now.

Illogical to think that he just lost that arm strength over the offseason after being so efficient last year.

Miraculously completing over 70% of his passes though

We've had a lack of deep threat since Devery left and our interior line play has declined. It makes it harder for Brees to step up and let it rip this year, especially when teams are playing cover 3 and can get pressure with their front 4

he certainly lacks Belichck's discipline and standards of perfectionism. I can't count how many times in the last couple of seasons the Saints have had to take a timeout and then emerged only to have an egregiously stupid penalty, let up a sack, or look completely unprepared.

He throws a lot of high percentage short passes, stuff that the defense gives the offense for the most part. Look at Cooks he has a lot of catches but they are only going for 7yds a pop. Where are the big plays downfield?

when his backup running back has 74 receptions that's not that hard to accomplish

When I said its been in decline for years what I mean is that it has been noticeable on certain throws

everything the saints do on offense is in front of the defense. No threat down field except a few jump balls to JG

I get that Belichick is a lot better than Payton. I just thought it was dumb of the poster to discount Brady's road record by giving Belichick all the credit, especially if you are going to give Brees all the credit for his stellar home record

I'm not arguing that at all. If he was throwing behind and late every play, he wouldn't be completing that many passes.

In 2013, 11.8% of his passes were deep balls compared to 8.1% so far this year.

However, his accuracy % is 46.2% this year compared to 40% last year. Stills is just getting healthy, and we've played 3 of our 4 games on the road.

We had the 4th most deep attempts last year...

Almost like we've had trouble with interior protection and our "deep threat" has been injured

I don't think I said every play. No one is saying Brees is a retard trying to throw the ball

What they are saying is this offense is easy to defend as long as they keep everything in front of them, which is easy to do because its qb cant make certain throws consistently.

Yes, we had the 4th most attempts last year, which balances out throwing short so much.

2nd in yards
1st in TDs
1st in Rating
