It was browned, used the fat (chicken and sausage) for the roux.

Might not have gone balls deep on the sausage browning that go round.

I don't even really like gumbo and the ones posted in this thread(and lls from yesterday) are making my mouth water. I lived with a guy at UA whose mama was from Gonzalez, made a turtle and wild duck gumbo that looked like that and was impossible to stop eating. I couldn't get enough of that stuff and I still dream about it

I made my first gumbo last week and I ain't gonna lie, I freaking nailed it!!
Grilled/Smoked chicken with some Ville Platte sausage. I was very proud of my self.

Pics were on my wife's phone that crashed.

Looks closest to mine, though mine isn't quite that 'oily'. (If that makes sense. Maybe 'fatty'?)

Pretty surprised at how oily/fatty some of the other gumbos look.
