Truth is, we were late to the party, but we recruited him hard eventually. This board generally liked him but he was never viewed as a "can't miss". When he signed with MSU it was expected and nobody here bore a grudge against the kid.

The underlying "problem" w/ our recruitment (or lack of recruitment) of Prescott was that we did a poor job of evaluating him as an SEC QB; Mullen, OTOH, did a good job w/ his evaluation. Yes, we signed Mettenberger that year as a QB, but who was the other QB we got?????--Stephen Rivers. Obviously we did a poor job evaluating Rivers' QB talents as well. So while we undervalued Prescott, we overvalued Rivers. Was Crowton still the QB coach during the recruitment or was it Kragthorpe?

I remember LSU being in on him late, that originally they were looking at him as an athlete, then they started talking QB really late in the process. I remember most thinking we had a good chance with him for a while, but then he made his decision to go to MSU and that was it.

Never thought that one would come back to haunt us with a loss.

My dad grew up with Daks parents, so we met up with his grandmother and family pre and post game Saturday. His grandmother told us how Ms Peggy handled the recruitment and I cannot blame Dak for choosing Moo St. The night before singing day his mom sat him down and said "You cannot go to either school unless you have my signature. You have 15 minutes to convince me why I shouldnt send you to LSU." Dak even states LSU recruited his mom more than they recruited him. She wanted him closer to home, but Dak gave her a great few reasons why Moo St was a better fit for him. She was floored by his response and she happily signed the LOI for Moo St. The rest is history.

I remember reading an article on RGIII several years ago in which he said we recruited him as an athlete as well. I think he said that Baylor was the only significant offer he got as a QB.

Dak went to LSU camp and was grouped with the receivers by Crowton, and never looked at as a qb. Les came to Haughton very late in Dak's senior season with an offer to play QB, but was late to the party, as Dak had verbally committed to Mullen far earlier in the season. LSU at the time was going after Teddy Bridgewater, Jacoby Brissett and Rivers, and most on this board was discounting the talent of Prescott in comparison to the rest.

I get the "Bitter LSU didn't recruit me harder" vibe from him. But he did finally beat us, props to that.
