I'd much prefer this one, but I don't hate the red one. But this is one they have been selling, along with some other colors, so that doesn't necessarily mean the one in the OP is the one that will be revealed today. Although there's a good chance it will be red, and if it is, then that is likely close to what it will be.

Gold trim on that black jersey and it'd be perfect, IMO

I don't know, something to distinguish it from the Hawks jersey

I like that they say Pelicans though.

I guess we're saving NOLA for the Mardi Gras unis next year.
From the name, to the court, to the jerseys, basically every single part of the rebrand, (outside the center court logo) has been as bland and generic as possible. I've stopped hoping for anything out of the box, at this point. I just hope they start winning some games.

I really like the name Pelicans. I also like the logos, especially the main and the CCB.

The color scheme and jerseys have been very disappointing.

Well we know they wanted black and gold, but got shot down by the league.

But just looking at Benson's age and history, I wouldn't hold my breath for any U of Oregon-style creativity any time soon. Whether its Benson himself, or the people he puts in charge, they all seem to go for "meh." The Saints jerseys haven't changed much at all, in decades. And the Superdome field might be the most generic in the NFL.

Let's wait until the reveal before we draw conclusions. Like I said above, they have been selling many different color jerseys this past year, so that is no indication that this is what they will be revealing today.

2.5/10 hate hate hate.

The retro mockup we were commenting on yesterday with the bold striping was way better - that was a solid 7.5/10.

This sucks - I hate the "modern" side markings and the lame fonts.

I really hate our rebrand and would have rather just stayed the Hornets at this point. We had unique colors, a great mascot, incredible alternates, and a global brand. Not to mention 10 years of history. Fleur De Bee kicks any Pelicans logo's arse every day of the week.

That's going to be it, but the "authentic" court version will probably have some gold accents and it will look slightly better/sharper due to the sewn on numbers and letters.

Still lame - WNWI

What exactly were people expecting though?

Something fun like OKC's "retro" alternate was what I was hoping for. A different word marking and maybe some homage to the old New Orleans Bucs uniforms.

It would have been awesome to take this exact uniform that CP3 is wearing and change "Bucs" to "Pels"

I never understood the Bucs alternates. Describe the average person that knows about a team that was in New Orleans for 3 years at the end of the 60s. Now describe the average person that buys an NBA jersey. I'm guessing they are pretty dissimilar demographics.

I don't really get your point - there's no impetus to buy this generic red "Pelicans" jersey either. It would have been fun to mix things up.

Using this old New Orleans Pelicans logo would have been cool as well to create a "fauxback" like OKC has.

In fact, I think we could have created a BADASS Nets/Celtics type "plain and retro is best" look using exclusively navy and white with that old school Pelicans logo instead of the new "angry/fierce Pelicans" that is so tired and cliched by this point. Every school/team does it and so it's refreshing to see the Orioles or Cardinals or Celtics or Nets who have no such "fierce" nonsense - just a fun classic look.

The Saints / Loins game? I am planning on going if I don't lose any more money gambling in the meantime. Has been a horrible start to the year.

They'll buy it specifically because it's a different color. Phones, MP3 players, even blenders come in a variety of colors. There was a picture of AD in a Charlotte Hornets hat before the draft and I believe his official reason for wearing that hat was the colors.

But the Bucs-themed "Pels" jersey would have been a different color (red) as well. Is that the disconnect? I should have specified that it would have been red.
