I took the whole family (5 of us) on the big island. It was pricey, but none of us had ever flown in a helicopter, so we thought we'd give it a try.

It was worth every penny.

I used Blue Hawaiin helicopter tours two years ago when we were in Maui, it was one if the highlights of the trip for sure. We will be doing a different flight next month when we go back

Heading to Oahu and Maui next month and wondering if the $525 one hour helicopter your is worth it.

We booked a Helicopter tour for our honeymoon in Maui. From what I can remember (11 years ago), it was an hour long tour and well worth it. The cost was substantially less than the $525 you quoted, but then again, times have changed.

We rode in one of these:

and the pilot was from New Iberia.

Breathtaking scenery. Beautiful pictures that will last forever. This was before we had children. Not so sure I would do this again for fear of an accident?

Yes
Granted we did it in 2000 on Kaui and it was about $200.

Pilots and mechanics generally take jobs with tour companies for two reasons: to gain experience or avoid drug tests. Let that sink in.

I did it on Kauai and it was awesome. Did a Cessna on the Big Island which was really cool to see the volcanoes as well. Not sure if Oahu or Maui would be better of the two, seems like maybe Maui. Anyway, $525 is for 2 people? Seems pretty expensive but I did it years ago.

Definitely do it.

Hate to hijack the thread but can anyone tell me about fishing in Maui? Is it worth it of would a helicopter ride be better?

I personally wouldn't spend $525 for 1 hour of anything, but I'm cheap/OT poor.

Yes...did it with my family when I was in Kauai 14-15 years ago and it was awesome. Will probably do it again when we go back to Kauai and the Big Island in December of this year.

Fishing is really good on the Big Island. I'm not sure about Maui, but I would think it's pretty good.
