I work at a restaurant once or twice a month on the weekends for cash. sometimes I make 27 bucks in a shift and sometimes I make 300 in 4 hours. it pays for my music festivals and plane tickets. Its my play money. my day job covers all my bills.

I am technically employed with a few companies that "contract" out promo girls.

But I haven't done one in a long time.

Pay is really good, but I have a hard time wasting my 2 days a week off on that. And most are in New Orleans anyway. I never feel like driving to work until the middle of the night.

Hmmm...I know a few promo girls real well. Maybe we've met?

I haven't done it many times. I get ~6 offers a month, but I always decline.

I actually have an offer now to pass out whips at the Hustler store on Bourbon all 5 days of Mardi Gras.

$1500 total.

Not worth it to me

What's a good haul for a usual job?
Average?
My SIL was asking. I got her a couple of local gigs for some banquets. Told her I had no clue on big jobs. She made about $2000 at a recent one. Not bad for 3-4 hours work.

I used to work for Raisin Canes as a side job.

I just had to go to HR and request some sort of waiver that I wouldn't be doing accounting work for Canes.

Live here in Nashville, which is a big plus but I've bought and sold for events nationally.

For what you'll deal with at Mardi Gras, it's not worth it.

Hotels are outrageous, if you can even get one. Coming and going from the city is a clusterfrick, so you don't really want to stay outside of it. Getting to the actual place on Bourbon will be hell.

The biggest reason I don't work the NOLA events is because the money I'd spend to stay and work it makes it not worth it.

Now.. they DO have a few daytime events on random Sundays at the mall or whatever, but you're looking at maybe $100. It's $20/hour, which is great, but doesn't warrant a drive.

I sold merchant processing services for a company as a side job for a year. Made an extra $500-800 a month.

I'm a landscape architect. I do municipal/commercial work for my day job. A few times a year someone asks me to do a residential design on the side since we don't do that at my firm. The money isn't great, but it's usually enough to buy myself something I've been eyeing that I wouldn't otherwise have money in my budget to buy.

Which is exactly what I'm looking for... Play money, but still have to have time to play.

Which one if you don't mind answering? I've been looking into something similar lately. How'd you like it?

Professional daily fantasy sports player on Draftkings and Fanduel.

I treat it like a job. Won about $5500 since I started 3 weeks ago. Of course this isn't an option if you live in Louisiana, or if you don't like sports anyway.

Uber is my new side job. You can work when you want and make a hefty sum of extra money each week. Pretty good gig for those who have time to kill, but don't want to be forced to work specific hours.

For those interested in doing it, email me at <<<@gmail.com. If you start driving, I get $100 and you get $100.

I'll do some stuff here and there. When my brother still had his grass cutting business I'd help him out every other weekend. I created and deployed a gis database for a cemetery that I still help out with. Drafting/design on the side when someone hits me up.
