yea, they definitely gained an on field advantage that year from paying Reggie

I bet if Reggie never met those agents OU would have scored another 6 TDs. Vacated titles are similar to UN sanctions

Couldn't buying things for players or their families get players to sign there who otherwise wouldn't have signed there? Thus making their team much stronger because they cheated to get better players?

So paying him had no part in him choosing to go to USC?

usc's program fell apart

they probably just paid him more than other schools offered.

if you have proof that other schools were paying players, bring it forward

until then it's just hearsay and accusations

They vacated the national championship that they won, right?

they were forced to vacate the national championship that they won by way of cheating

in the same way that if i got a 100 on a test and later was discovered i cheated, my 100 would be made into a 0

So they cheated and it directly had an impact on their on-field play.

You said before that it had no bearing on them winning games.

Gotcha in your lie.

Wasn't it because Bush was getting cars and and shite from agents while he was in school and some assistants knew about it but didn't do anything? I didn't think it had anything to do with his recruitment but I didn't follow it that closely

it didn't directly have an impact on the on the field play. you can surmise that he wouldn't have gone to USC and been a beast if he wasn't paid, but that's just speculation.

OK so they won it. Thanks for clarifying that.

So the Pac-12 shared the title in 2003 and then won it all in 2004 but the 2004 title was vacated.

Great trip to memory lane. When does the "Where are they now?" segment begin?

The AP voted Miami #1 in 1991. The Pac12 hasn't won an undisputed title since 1972.

I believe it was that, but I'm not sure so I'll play the hypothetical with recruiting too

2003 lsu won it - both teams agreed to the bcs rules before the season began.

2004 - no one won it, after usc was caught cheating and the title and season vacated

2004: USC won it but was later vacated which is basically the ncaa saying "close your eyes and wipe this from your memory. even though it really happened it didn't"
