Worse case scenario, take it to the range.

I will be tomorrow, my line of sight which I forgot to mention is actually -1.65. I will be deer/hog hunting inside 200yds so it doesn't have to be dead on, just like theoretical numbers as a good starting point.

What is funny about that chad? I do, have 700 in the back yard and out to 3000 on the deer lease. Maybe most don't but I do. Won't shoot a deer that far but will punch paper and iron all day long at that distance.

I meant to really just have the popcorn.... that's a far arse shot. 2000 yards is more than 1.1 miles.

It's a long way but on a day with no wind and a well practiced trigger pull and the right gun it's not that difficult.

I shoot a 6.5 Creed which is a stretch at 2,000 and a .300 win mag for the really long shots it can be done and one doesn't have to be in the army for it to be possible.

6.5 Creeed is my go to gun, no recoil and just such a sweet shooting gun. I don't mind the larger bore guns just don't like high recoil.

i've never seen or taken that long of a shot before. I would have to use a car as a target.

Sweet round
I shoot a 6.5x284 and love it, burns out barrels quick, but it's a helluva round

40" drop at 500yds - does the bullet even have enough energy to travel 2000yds?

Absolutley, look at ballistics for many rounds 40" at 500 yards is actually pretty good. 1,550 is as far as I have been able to use it with any repeatability. Too much wind influence. If you look at the rounds that compete in F Class 90% are shooting a creed right now. It's the "in" round in 1,000 yard shots.

KingRanch... I told you let's do it, why don't you grab 4LSU2 and join us at the DU banquet on Oct. 16 I always have room at my table.

Chad Cars are fun to shoot at, but you would be amazed at what good glass on top of a GREAT rifle can do. With my current 6.5 rig I had 1 hole groups at 100 yards within about a week of playing with it. Sub MOA is no problem with the right gun AND a little practice on technique. The technique part is far more critical than the gun.

Nice gun! I hope to have an XP-100 chabered in either 6.5X284 or 284 Win in the next yr or two. Still undecided, but I'll prolly end up w/ the 284 Win.

If you are sighting in for target shooting, you would hold at six o'clock. Doesn't make much sense for hunting tho.

And that is only for open sights.

The 6.5 mm family are some of the best long range rifles until you REALLY start getting out there! Very flat shooters. My 6.5x284 barrel is only good for about 1,000 rounds. Good luck with your choice.

I shoot 150 grain bullets out of my .300wsm. Negligible drop out to 300 yards sighted in at 2 inches high at 100 yards.

130 grains in .270 with 3" high at 100yrds. Gives me roughly dead on at 300......here's a clue, i aint that good to tell anyways.

The thick part of the duplex crosshair is roughly 3 inches high at 100, so I use that for aiming in the field.
