Aug. - Sept. is right around the time they usually hatch. When I was a kid, my uncle hatched some and gave us around 14 just like that. About 5 of them got out of the aquarium one night. We found a couple - one in my mom's bathroom and one in my sister's shoe. I found 18 eggs under a board once, and hatched 14 as well. Donated them to the nature center in N.O. East back in the day.
