I think 14 bottles a day is marginally possible if you are large (he is) and have the right body chemistry to not get bad hangovers, etc. Some people really do handle alcohol better than others.

That being said, that's a good point that he only "sometimes" does it. And further-- especially if he owns a vineyard-- he probably drinks more with company, and he may not actually be polishing off each bottle. So, it could be three people drinking heavy and 20 bottles later he thinks he personally drank 14 of them. And he may be drinking one vintage and half way through decides to do a vertical of 5 different years, but doesn't drink 100% of each bottle, but still counts all five bottles before moving on.
