My opinion is you can probably go with a standard company for cheaper depending on your total dwelling coverage and location

But they also have some pretty good new markets for high value homes now

Do we have a consensus here? Don't file?

I don't know how major companies get any new homeowners business in southeast LA

I'm pretty sure State Farm isn't writing new homeowners policies.

Doesn't Allstate do split policies with like north light ?
In Calcasieu Parish its Allstate. For high value or difficult homes, they'll do Northlight.

Everywhere north of Calcasieu it's Allstate.

In Cameron it's Louisiana Citizens. LOL Cameron.

Yeah, I think all the agents in here agree on that.

The price was very good, it was within a few hundred dollars of SF.

It was so good I researched the heck out of them and I really didn't find any negatives.
In talking with the agent, he said Chubb is aggressively pursuing this market b/c of the lack of claims and the credit-worthiness of the customers.

In my area we just see splits with north light and citizens. Split policies are relatively easy to beat especially when they learn what north light and citizens are

My problem is with the major companies agents not telling the clients that it is a split policy, a lot of times they just see the Allstate paper and assume it's all allstate

No, I'm super up front about Northlight. And their rates have been pretty competitive for me lately.

Citizens in the most god awful, unwieldy thing on the planet.

Are you in mandeville? Unless you have something that is causing other companies to not accept you, you should be able to find a standard company that is significantly cheaper than SF it is definitely one of the higher rates you will come across in the standard market.

But you are finding I think had a lot to do with where you are located

I don't do much writing in Houma but if you are with an independent agent there is a good chance you may be with my agency

2.6 miles from the lake.

SF initially said they would write me, then they wouldn't, then I think they said they would.

By that time, I found Chubb and just went with them. I didn't really shop Chubb's price, it seemed pretty good.
