In what fricking universe does a coach or AD have to provide a hearing before benching a player . . . for any fricking reason?

In the same universe that Walmart, Bestbuy, Target, etc... have to provide counsel and public hearings to their employees

Yes... he believes that as well.

Sure it is, but it isn't a violation of his constitutional right.

Nah, he's free to say dumb stuff not free from the consequences.
This thread is too long. Are people arguing that his rights have been violated ?

Yes, the person who started this thread is...
Claiming that Winston has a right to his lawyer being present and a public hearing before he should be punished for his actions...

Are some here trying the angle that this is state action because FSU is a government institution?

Change of direction.........does anyone think the university should hand down punishment to the athletes instead of the coaches? I know a lot of times that is not possible, for example, schools do not regularly test the student body for drugs, so if a player fails an internal drug test the penalty is up to the coach, but if the school has a "code of conduct" policy and the players action(s) fall within that policy, should the school punish the player instead of the coach?

If Obama had a son, the youngster would look like Jameis.

Nonetheless, with "guilty-by-accusation," we seem to be inviting it.
This situation is obviously different. Occurred with a hundred witnesses or more. But mark my words, at some point the equation will flip. An issue laden girl will cry foul when no foul was committed. For her it will be a 'free shot.' No risk at all.
Falsely contrived accusations of assault, battery, or rape carry no ramifications for the accuser whatsoever.
It is wrong.
It is inexcusable.
But it is the way things are.

How the frick are people making this a freedom of speech or due process issue? He's THE face of the University right now and coaches can bench people for any reason they want. They're the fricking coach.
And it's not even about due process, there's a video of him shouting this shite. He's not going to jail, his rights have not been violated.

False allegations of rape occur at about a 2% clip - on par with false reports of all crimes. The worst outcome of the duke lacrosse case is that it will always be the basis for undermining real victims.
