In no order, but just as I see them.

Bayou Tech Cocodrie
Chimay Red
Ommegang Three Philosophers
Duvel
Stone Arrogant Bastard

Also, that Danksmead Vikingblod is a good quality mead for when autumn comes. A little pricey, but solid.

"Darker" beers does not mean anything. Dozens of different styles are typically "dark" and many more have "dark" varieties that are outside norms for the styles

I guess "dark beers" were the only two words you read of the entire thread.

Sorry to insult your beer intelligence and intellect.

I think he was just being silly about a pet peeve.
People say that a lot when they're looking to try beer. I got it almost nightly when I worked at the bar.

I was always tempted to bring them a black IPA to really frick their mind up

You asked for help being a beer snob. Lesson #1 is to be a condescending prick about beer styles.

You got some good recs here. I'd drink the Cocodrie, Ranger IPA if fresh, Maudite, Rogue Hazelnut, and any of those Stones

I mean, the only experience I have isn't just Bud Light. I've had a good range of different types of beer. I just saw the selection on the shelf and figured this would be the place to ask for suggestions. Maybe if I list out some and my ratings on them, it would be easier. Are there any websites that do this and give you recs?

Out of 5:
Stone IPA - 4 (I regularly order this when I go to the Bulldog)
Turbodog - 4
SA Cherry Wheat - 3.5
SA Latitude 48 - 4
Guinness (whatever the standard one is) - 2
Jockamo - 4
Abita Oktoberfest - 3

Obviously, this is not an extensive list, just the few I thought of that I have had recently.

Two sites that can roughly tell you how good a beer is.

There are beer rating sites, but do keep in mind the rating are generally very high. I don't think I've ever drank a single thing that was rated less than 85% on them.

But it will still give you a good idea. People's ratings/descriptions can help you pick up on flavors you might not be able to pick up on yet. It helps me sometimes to see what others taste.

I like it. I haven't really had an IPA I have not liked.

It's not an IPA.

ETA: As someone mentioned and it seemed overlooked, check dates if you're buying beer for home. You don't want to grab some random old assed IPA that has been in the store for 6 months.
