When is the last time schoolkids went thru an Atomic Blast "Duck-and-Cover" exercise? When is the last time an East Berliner was shot for trying to cross to the West? When is the last time Communism was feared to be on the march?

Make no mistake, we won the Cold War. We won it decisively. We won it against a worthy foe. We won without ever having to take on the opponent in direct conflict. Mr. Gorbachev tore down that wall, just as Reagan requested! We won. Interestingly, so did they.

I humbly submit to you that you will be hard pressed to find two countries more dedicated to the pursuit of wealth then Russia and China, the big Communist two.

As for this disdain of profit... no, Europeans love profit. The Germans, in particular, are amazingly fond of it. What you see as a hatred of profit is more along the lines of "give us things we might have trouble affording until I become filthy rich". I have Europeans friends, some of them might qualify as socialists, all of them have expressed great desire to have more money. You know, just like us.

Folks... capitalism is on a bender, its on a tear, its on a three day drunk and gaining speed. Companies in Socialist countries are just as concerned with being profitable as they are any where else in the world. Some of the most cut throat businesses in the world make their home in countries that are more liberal then the US.

Scotland's referendum has a lot more to do with long simmering dislike of southern England's (the London area in particular) stranglehold on power in the UK then anything else. Sure, the current Scottish government is more liberal then the current UK one. Twenty years from now they will probably be more conservative.

Communism lost. The only red flag waving near Obama is likely on a golf course. We won. Now we get to tackle radical Islam.

Lots of people in Western Europe are subject to Church taxes unless they proclaim themselves as unaffiliated....I don't know how many do so to lower their tax rates are because they truly aren't
