Hope they lose their jobs. They need to out the business where the original accuser works as well.

Cops are just the worst.

African-American actress Danièle Watts claims she was "handcuffed and detained" by police officers from the Los Angeles Police Department at CBS's Studio City production facility
It seems like this is a private facility that someone at the facility asked the police to investigate. It also sounds like they could have been doing a bit more than kissing.

She was handcuffed because she did not show ID when she was asked to by local police who were investigating a complaint on private property.

I am not so sure that the police did anything wrong here.

Racism is absolutely not a factor here - this is 100% the fault of big government. If the size of the government were just smaller this would have never happened.

Why can't they both be factors?

Knowing that humans are flawed and prone to have impure motivations such as racism drive their decisions, wouldn't it then make sense to give the government (which is dependent on ground level decision makers like this) less power?

So, it sounds like someone called the police because they thought their behavior was inappropriate. Sounds like they weren't just "kissing". Maybe the man who called the cops told them he thought she was a hooker? Maybe they have an issue with hookin' on their property? Maybe the cops have arrested a lot of people for prostitution in that area?

Do you ever employ even a smidgen of intellectual curiosity and critical thinking when you read a story?

When asked for ID she should have provided it. Sounds like this could have been cleared up had they just done what they were asked to do.

Doesn't seem racist or motivated by race in any way to me.

Also, wow, that website is just full on cray-cray. I clicked on the story about what " real cover girls look like" and was not shocked at all to find at least two "women" featured were former men. I guess men make the best cover girls.

This comment reminds of the thread I started yesterday in which few people participated. Here's the article. LINK

quote:

But ILP is more than the surplus gear so media photo-friendly, especially in our current era of Ferguson coverage. The bigger shift is local police departments being encouraged to operate more like an intelligence agency, with cops acting more like spies, and trained to be suspicious and untrusting at first glance of everybody around them. Rather than problem-solvers, officers are now encouraged to engage in predictive and proactive policing

This is the problem. Most don't quite get it.

Why should they lose their jobs for performing the duties that they were hired to perform?

I see what you're saying and read the article but I don't necessarily think cops making an assumption based on what's known about an area is new,or bad.

If an area has a reputation for being popular for a certain criminal element and the police are familiar with the activities that go on in that area, then being a little suspect of someone's activities in that area just seems natural.
It doesn't mean they are immediately guilty, nor should it.

The last time I was in Shreveport I was questioned by a cop who told me I "didn't belong" near a certain area. I disagree with your statement. They're treating our cities like they are war zones.

Unfortunately, some of our cities have turned into warzones .

Obviously how it came to be that nearly every city has a "hot zone" is worthy of lengthy debate.

Update-

Reports say she wasn't just kissing her boyfriend, she was in the backseat of the car fricking him at the time of the police call.

LINK

quote:

The Django Unchained actress who claimed she was harassed and injured by police after kissing her boyfriend was actually having sex in her car it is alleged, and then went on a rant accusing police of not knowing who she was.

In a police audio of the incident obtained by TMZ, Daniele Watts is heard accusing the police of racism when Sgt. Jim Parker asks her for ID. She then tells cops that they don’t who she is before storming off, refusing to show her ID.

Witnesses from the nearby Directors Guild office building allegedly told the police they were watching her and her boyfriend have sex in the passenger seat with the door open.

One eyewitness said the man was sitting in the seat while she was straddling him, in plain sight of everyone around them.

After storming off, Watts was apprehended by a police officer a short distance away and brought back where she continued her rant.
