I detest Pelosi with a passion, but just watched the clip and she was obviously not serious, as she was laughing at her own "joke" as soon as the words were out of her mouth. The audience started laughing at the point where she had only spoken the words "Civilization as we know it today would be". It was a pro-Pelosi Bill Maher audience and she was entertaining them.
Drudge headlining it, knowing it was said tongue-in-cheek, reflects the same mendacious manipulation of the facts that Pelosi engages in on an almost daily basis.

I agree, she's shockingly and terrifyingly dumb and had the greatest one liner gaffe in history IMO and should have never been Speaker.
