What was your point?

The next step in gaming is total, mental immersion within a virtual world. Anything below that isn't significant.

And the existence of consoles has no impact on that. It is a standalone advancement that will change society as we know it.

Personally I don't think virtual reality, Morpheus, or oculus rift will have staying power.

I agree. That isn't what I'm referring to. I mean mental projection within virtual reality.

Hmm...interesting point, but largely irrelevant and overly emotional.

I'm touched that I was once seen as a good poster.

In all seriousness though, I completely understand the point y'all are making, but this isn't even a losing battle.

The battle has already been lost.

Humanity is lazy. We don't want to worry about specs. We want everything made easy for us, and consoles offer that.

I know gaming computers aren't that expensive. I know building them isn't that complicated.

The common gamer doesn't and doesn't care. They want it easy.

Maybe things will change. Who knows?

Me, I want to know what is next for gaming, and computing in general. The age of controllers and mouse clicks won't last forever.

4k is awful argument for arguing out of date tech. It won't be even close to main stream for at least 5 years.

how many dedicated gaming pcs can run games at 4k at 30+ Fps?

1%? If that?

go look at steam hardware statistics to see just how average of a system most pc gamers are using.

Correct. It's not even all about resolution. It's about what else are we missing out on in gaming because consoles can't handle it?

You know I'm a fan but this is the silliest argument. We get what the market demands/supplies. If PC gaming can't support all the big budget titles on its own then that's on PC gaming. Nothing to do with consoles.

These companies are attempting to bring value to their shareholders. It has nothing to do with winning 4k arguments on message boards. Future proof consoles simply don't satisfy market demand.

This is the honest answer. Console gaming funds those pretty PC games. So while the bar is set lower than possible, PCs would get nearly as many games if it weren't for that audience. Not to mention that budgets are already out of control. Can't imagine too many publishers pushing the boundary more, even without limitations of console specs.
