This is about consoles again holding back gaming like the last gen did for so long.
We won't get true 4K AAA games unless consoles can run them which sucks for PCs that can do 4K right now.
So are we looking at 10 years before it's a reality?

You're just going to have to deal with it. No amount of bitching is going to stop consoles from selling or from developers making games for them.
For being the "master race" the gaming industry sure does ignore them a lot in favor of the consoles.

I'm perfectly happy with my 720 tv. I just want to play fun games. I don't give a shite about 1080 or 4k or whatever.

To be fair, it's just a circle jerk sub. Most of the shite on there gets an eye roll from me, but sometimes I exhale harder than I usually do.

And this is why consoles will always sell. The majority of gamers don't give a damn about how much better 4k is than 1080p. They just want to go buy a console that has virtually 0 setup, pop in a disc and play a game.
With PCs you have to be much more competent when it comes to technology in order to build a good gaming rig that will play games at Ultra settings. It takes time and effort and the vast majority of the market doesn't want to put in the time or the effort.

Thank you. It used to piss me off when I would ask someone what kind of PC I should buy and the response was always "Build one. It's easy" and then they get condescending when you say it's not, comparing it to legos.
I finally said, "frick it" and bought the parts then paid a friend to help me put it together.

Consoles sell because they are easy. People don't want to have to build a system or think about specs. They just want to play games.
The majority of gamers don't care about the advancement of gaming either. They just want to play games. It is that simple.
Personally, I don't consider graphical advancement to be that significant anyway. The only true advancement in gaming is integrative virtual reality. Anything short of that isn't significant. It is just rehashing of what already exists.
