This has absolutely nothing to do with Bama.

Do we know if there was a specific school that asked for more clarification? And is this common?

On one of the talk shows last week, the host (pretty sure it was Hanagriff) speculated that is was Ms State. Can't remember why he thought that (had something to do w/a current member of State's coaching staff having some type of LSU tie in or whatever). He did give a full disclaimer that his thoughts were pure speculation.

Billy Gonzales.

Used to coach at LSU, now at MSU. Recruiter of Florida territory for both schools, which is where Valentine is from. Billy has reportedly done this in the past when he was at UF.

All of this is hearsay and rumors though.

Thanks, and yes, that was the speculated connection.

If he's not the guy that did this, please accept my apologies for spreading rumors.

If he IS the guy, I hope contracts cancer of the heart.

Think they in any rush to get an LSU player cleared ? Bama player I'm sure would have been a priority ....

I don't disagree. Bama players are allowed to take money from the Bama staff and can still play as long as the "loan" is payed back.

I still have not heard anyone explain how the sec can hold up a recruit after cleared by ncaa.

That was a different situation I believe. Bama had Landon Collins's girlfriends mom (who has a huge dislike for LSU) get Lacy qualified. This was being done before the day when freshman report to campus. Bama put a lot of money into getting him qualified but it was year long process.

Coincidence that we play MSU early and a delay could mean he misses that game?? Hmmm.

So, guess he will be cleared in a couple of weeks, if that is the case...better news than before...

Because the SEC can have different standards. They can't be less stringent than the NCAA, but they can be tougher like individual admissions policies can be different.

I don't think this particular case is because of tougher standards per se, but due to some kind of suspected irregularities that got by the NCAA. My opinion is that either the SEC should take complete control of the process or accept the work of the eligibility center. This two step process is ridiculous.
