I've got your back, bro. People get pissed if you bring up LSU never getting 90,000 inside of Tiger Stadium.

I find the 76,000 number for Saturday a bit odd. Considering LSU had an actual crowd of more than 76,000 for openers before the expansion.

Basic logic would mean the crowd was somewhere around 83, 84, 85K with the expansion.

Found the article:

LINK
It is written before the 2012 Bama game, but considering they never crossed 90k for the UF or VT games...I'm confident the no more than 90k number is still in effect.

I was at the 2012 Bama game, and you couldn't have fit another termite toenail into Death Valley that night. Don't know where 3,400 empty seats were, because it didn't look like there were even 34 empty, much less 3,400.

I saw pics of the crowd at kick off and it looked full to me except in the east uppers visitor section. Definitely more than 76,000. Heck the lower bowl just by itself is 70,000 and that was full

I felt the same way at UGA 2003. People can fit.

Not really. If you can only fnd 76K people to come to home openers with the capacity being 92K, why would more come just because the capacity was higher?

Really? You're saying all 10,000 extra tickets sold were no shows?

That would mean 0 people sat in the new expansion.

Did anyone sit there?

IDK. I just know the demand for a SHSU game didnt not increase, nor did the desire to go.

From an economic standpoint, paid is all that matters to LSU. I'm sure they take a hit on concessions, gift shops, etc.

As far as fans not showing & leaving early, that's LSU. Face it, we are not aTm. Their stands were full in the 2nd Half with them blowing out Lamar with a delayed kickoff. I'm not sure if LSU is the most disloyal, could give a shite fan base in CFB, but we're close.

Well, if your criteria for judging that is sitting 'till the end of blowouts, maybe.

If your criteria is spending your hard earned cash to actually help build the program, not even close.

IIRC, the attendance for the USM game at the end of the Hallman era was about 75,000. The stadium that night looked completely empty. There is no way that there was anything close that few people in TS on Saturday night. There is no way that the stadium was 1/3 empty at kick off.

They sold 75,000 tickets for that game.

Come on people. Paid vs. actual attendance isn't a hard concept.

LSU knows what the actual attendance is for every sport but they refuse to release the numbers except for baseball (because they lead the nation) and when basketball has a crowd above 10,000.

LSU doesn't release the actual football number because it would diminish the 92,000 (now 100,000+) aura of Tiger Stadium.

I was in East Upper and I would guess it was at least 75% full. West looked about the same. Post game show stated around 100,000 people attended, but what do they know.

Well let's see....

75% of 102,000 would a little more that 76,000.

Amirite?

Take it from someone who roams the stadium a bit throughout the season. There are always seats available. What looks to be full from across the way, actually has a few seats empty scattered about. While I agree that the lower bowl "looked" full, we know that there were empty seats to be found. Then in all 3 upper decks there were large, noticeable gaps.

I'd say 76,000 sounds about right.
