It looks like more in the lower bowl because it's primarily bleachers that are 18" seats. So when 4 people to a row of 30 don't show up, everyone gets an extra 2 inches of width.

Same even for the chair backs on the sidelines with them being gold. Really never know how many are empty.

LSU has never had more than 90,000 butts in the seats in Tiger Stadium history, IIRC.

ETA: In terms of actual attendance. Not tickets sold.

Yea, people never realize this unfortunately.

Nah, I think I'm right.

Announced attendance =/= actual attendance.

This is talked about a few times in a kinesiology class I took at LSU. They've never actually had 90,000 people in attendance.

Arguably the most anticipated game in Tiger Stadium history occurred on Nov. 3 against top-ranked Alabama. After weeks of buildup, a school-record 93,374 fans and nearly 1,000 credentialed media saw the Tide escape with a 21-17 victory.

LINK

94,374 attendees.

The attendance of 93,374 was the largest to ever witness a football game in the state of Louisiana. Are they not counting the people as they scan the tickets at the door.

Again, that's paid attendance.

Not all of those tickets are used.

The lower decks and new upper deck were full, but the other upper decks were very empty.

The west UD was pretty full. It was only the east UD that was 3/4 empty. It gets pretty hot up there from what I hear.

Sounds like actual attendees since they say they witnessed the game. Not paid attendance.

It's for a fluff article. There's a Reveille piece from a few years ago that shows the actual numbers.

Well, I can tell you it's not. Especially considering the old capacity of the stadium wasn't even that big.

I took a lot of sport admin classes at LSU. We've had Verge and other people in the athletic department speak to our classes. I took a facilities management class where all we talked about was stadiums and stuff like this.

They've never had that many people in the stadium.

Until this year, of course, considering the new addition.

Regardless of the actual number, since this crap is going to happen when we play cupcakes, might as well turn it into useful propaganda i.e. if you (Alleva) keep scheduling these teams, it's gonna look like crap on TV, reduce concession revenues, and we'll keep griping and continue to leave early.

Found the article:

LINK

It is written before the 2012 Bama game, but considering they never crossed 90k for the UF or VT games...I'm confident the no more than 90k number is still in effect.

but the entire lower bowl appeared full

West sideline had cluster of empty seats everywhere. my vantage point was the lower east upper deck. Trust me when I say it wasnt close to full.

South endzone was jam packed as well as east sideline. upper north end was under the scoreboard was completely empty
